Zero Net Immigration

Everyone seems to be concerned about Eastern Europeans but I'm more concerned with the massive influx of Africans , I work in social housing and they are getting virtually every void property in my area. I am sorry if anyone disagrees with this but I can assure you it is a fact.
Someone somewhere is getting a massive backhander in our government to allow this mass immigration to take place, it is the only explanation. I think enough is enough now but anyone who says this in public is just branded a racist by both politicians and the media.

Not to worried about the size of the population. Believe that if you want to come to this country you should have something to offer or be skilled. Then we can get some of the long term benefit claiments off benefits and into the lesser skilled jobs that some migrant workers take up. Oh and if you plan to come to this country purely to claim benefits and not work for it then go away.

Does the increased size of population not put services like the NHS and Schools under stress. What about Employment, how can enough jobs be created for a population that is increasing at such a high rate.

Are you concerned with the size of the British population. Should we have a zero annual net immigration policy?

Not really.

Probably not.

BUT, I think we should be upping the criteria to get in. Skilled workers and those prepared to do the stuff lazy "social-dependent" leeches aren't prepared to do, then OK. Actually, there are people I would gladly kick out in return....

What I don't understand is certain types that by some co-incidence arrive and then get housed in fairly good accommodation, get bills paid, start ripping off every last loop-hole or social support available. If I had my way, if their need is SO bad that have to come here (for fear of having human rights violated etc.) then why not offer them a place to live that isn't a posh London borough....

you would never get zero. What you have to do is vet those that come in. The trouble is, unfortunately, within our own society. Too many lazy gits spongeing off the state who wont work as they will be worse off!

If we reduced benefits or even withdrew for certain elements of the British public then a better work ethic would be instilled.

Alas this will never happen so in the grand scheme of things we are ******!!!!

I read with interest the data from the Dept for National Statistics this month on Employment. They said more people were in jobs now than at any time in our history and the current increase in unemployment was due to increased immigration.

You have to be guarded on what you say with this subject without being labeled racist but I have grave concerns for the way the population has increased over the last decade. I believe it has been at a rate that is unsustainable and if not checked it will create real hardship and poverty in this country. How can we be serious about levels of youth unemployment for example when so many of the youth in eastern Europe are moving here

I think there's a lot of media hysteria about immigration. I was quite surprised at what the nett figure for immigration is. The country isn't filling up that quickly and politicians are quite happy not to quote the correct figures because that would mean one of their excuses for the country's woe's is actually a load of rolex.

Sadly, the brain drain is an issue but, again, its not as bad as is made out.

I work in the NHS and we are getting a huge influx from African nations for staff nurse and helathcare assistant posts. Most are already in the UK and usually in low paid (care home) roles so where are they living and affording it unless it is social housing (ok a generalisation).

We will never get zero immigration and to be honest I'm not the least bit worried as I can't do much about it. Whoever gets my cross at elections will do precious little to change things and I'm more concerned with issues like policing, interest rates and the economy

Immigrants should only be allowed in if they can support themselves untill they find work and should never be entitled to benefits at all in my opinion.

This country is full of people who are born and bred here with no interest in working and all they do is try and get as much out the system as they can get, we don't need immigrants adding to it too. If they have the right skills and are here for all the right reasons then come in if not then your not welcome.

Population of London (607 sq miles) - 8.2 million

Population of Scotland (78,000 sq miles) - 5.2 million

I don't care how many immigrants come, there's space!

Is it not down to the government to ensure that people are registered AND PAY tax?

Homer, You wonder where and how they are living, i work on site and there are many eastern europeans , i had one tell me recently that he lived in a 4 bedroom house with many beds or mattresses . Some worked days , others nights , sometimes someone would be waiting for another to go to work to get a bed . The rent shared among them would be minimal , they shop with their own .they get fish from the river, veg from the field. They are living out of the loop and that is why they will do my job for 70% of what i want and need to earn , and they can still afford to send money back home . Then once they are settled and no longer want to live like that it's far easier for them to go down the benefits route to get housing etc than it is by sheer hard work because they have caused such a reduction in pay that they cannot do it .
I understand they are not all like that but on site you get a few who speak little or no english , so someone gets appointed foreman who can co-ordinate them , once that happens you will not get a job on that site unless you are one of them,

I seem to be in a minority here when it comes to being worried about the increase in our population. We let the equivalent of two Cities the size of Bristol into the country each year and people think it does not matter. It's not the square acreage that is the issue but the overloaded infostructure. Would you really like to live in a Britain with 70 or 80 million inhabitants? Would you like your children or grand children to live in a Britain like this?

Due to be returning any time in the next 2 years it is a concern as to how crowded the UK is becoming. Definitely should be some sort of points based criteria to get in like we had to here in NZ.

I have never understood how someone can be straight off the airplane, and get a 4 bedroom house in Hampstead off the social, when the locals can't afford to live there, and are moving out. Isolated cases, yes, but still wrong in my view. If they don't have any work, they should be forced to live in port talbot, where housing is cheap.
