First tee, about 20 people watching, all goes silent, mishit it off the toe, straight into a house about 50 yards to my right, hit a smash and a dog barking like mad.

Just wanted the a hole in the ground to swallow me up.

 haha that's good

Late 80's playing in a 36 hole scratch comp. 18 straight pars in the first round, and leading. Got to the 4th hole in the second round and the ball missed the fairway by inches into a ruddy great big divot hole with a big tuft of grass immediately behind the ball - dropped shot. 7th hole, into a greenside bunker and plugged under the lip - double bogey. Steadied the ship till the 16th when I found a nice divot hole in the middle of the fairway - thinned out into a greenside bunker and plugged under the lip - another double bogey.

I think I finished third but was gutted to hit the ball beautifully in the afternoon and just felt I didn't get any good luck to balance the bad.

Round two on the Sunday at one of the early "Old Farts v Whippersnappers" meets held at Woodhall Spa.
Woke up to pouring rain and howling winds.
Ate breakfast at the hotel and hoped and prayed that it would die down a bit.
Got to the course, but it hadn't. It was that bad, the started suggested we teed off the green tees (forward of the ladies!!).
I didn't want to play. I was Captain of the Old Farts and didn't want to play. But so many people had a go at me for being a wimp, I had to.
I hated it. Possibly the worst weather conditions I have ever tried to play golf in, with "tried" being the operative word.
Playing against Paul Nash I was 4 down after 4 and hadn't even got my putter out.
Got to the 5th (short par 3) and he stuck his wedge to about a foot.
I put my club back in the bag, shook his hand and trudged back to the clubhouse, soaking wet and very, very miserable.
Faced with weather conditions like that, I will never, ever venture on to the 1st tee again.

Having a migraine come on in the middle of the round. Always seems to happen when I'm playing miles away from home too. Not good.

I've only ever had the funny vision thing a couple of times. It's normally a very sharp pain in one eye and the back of my neck (always same side for both), and the worst ones are accompanied by nausea as well.

I get 3 or 4 per year. Blurred vision in my left eye followed about 30 minutes later by a blinding headache / sickness. Only happened once on a course in a Texas scramble. I still needed to get one of my tee shots away with 3 holes to play. Just about finished the round and headed straight home !!

Use computers a lot at work? Had eye tests?

I got out of denial last year and went for an eye test. Eye muscles naturally show wear and tear by middle age and can't adjust focus as quickly as they need to.

Turns out I needed glasses, and got a little education about reducing stress on them.

Far fewer headaches nowadays, been migraine free since.

Played a round at Glenrothes, which is a very undulating course, in my lovely new adidas shoes. I felt rubbing on my heels coming off the second green and it just got worse and worse. Ended up with enormous blisters on both feet, I was knackered and played terribly too.

Last year I got a splitting headache from the 14th at St Mellion that came out of nowhere. I walked off on the 17th tee and went straight to bed, the only time I've had to give up mid round.

Hawkeye and I turning up at Maidenhead in the Nike matchplay. Got done by a dog licence and we were lucky to get away with that. The annoying thing was I was shocking and he wasn't far ahead of me but our opponents were something like -1 better ball off mid-handicaps. Never wanted to get off a course so fast

We've had better days. It didn't help that the M3 was closed so I had to take a detour and then forgot my shoes

They were actually 3 or 4 under by the time we finished, they were holing putts from everywhere.

I can think of 2.

Playing Birkdale in a howling gale and horizontal rain. Completely soaked by hole 9 but we kept on going. Winning stableford score was 28 points. I'm not sure we would have started anywhere else.

Playing in a pro-am with a senior European Tour pro who clearly didn't want to be there. The only time he smiled was when the photo was taken. Spent most of the round on the phone walking 30 yards away from us or chatting with his coach. All communication was via his caddy with the one exception being as he walked towards the back tee on a par 5 when he said "don't bother you can't get up there in 3".

Having been truely excited to play with him the reality was really disappointing. He was the only pro that didn't join his team for lunch afterwards as he "needed to practice" according to his caddy.

Should stress this is the exception as most of the pros I have met have been delightful - made this experience even worse..

Snapped the head of my wedge playing from a divot ,
always thought it's a silly rule on fairway to not get relief .

Name him and shame him please!

Without a doubt the HFH day at West Hills GC and the way they tined the greens during our round.

Bloody wet day and pouring with rain all through the round and awful greens and a 100 players supporting a great cause,i for one hope we never go back[shocking] still makes me angry and probably always will.

Years ago playing at The Essex club near Coggeshall alone and asked a very very bad senior fourball ahead of me if I could play through to be told by the oldest one that if I didnt shut up he would knock me out and then two of them almost coming to blows about it,It was just ridiculous he didnt allow me to play through so I walked in and got a coffee :)

Playing Goswick last year with my works society. One of our lads was stood on tee box waiting for players in front to move off. A player from a group using buggies on an adjacent fairway hooked a shot that cracked my colleague on the side of the head and burst it clean open.

He wasn't in my group but I pretty much seen it happen. Knocked me sick for the rest of the round. The bloke that hit him only shouted fore after he'd hit him. He didn't even offer him a lift back to the clubhouse in his buggie. The hospital couldnt stitch it until the next day as the swelling was so bad.

Playing the last few rounds at my old club before it folded.

Just one GK keeping it barely open, greens churned up by insect damage, moss and uncut grass.

Rough so high you lose balls the instant they miss the fairway, narrow bobbly rut filled mossy fairways.

It was sad as just a year before I was breaking 80 on it and it was a lovely place to play golf. I admit the course was far from ideal but it was playable.

Yes, head in a pc a lot of the day and I think your right. I need to get to an optician.
