Hi , we’re looking to put on events at our clubhouse to liven it up a bit as it’s not used particularly much except after competitions etc .
We’ve got ideas such as BBQ , guest speakers, comedy night , night time golf ,
but what do your club do? and what works best?
- we want to reach out to our fun members 😁😁

We have a really good social element at Lancaster. Plenty of mixed social competitions across the year often with meals in the evening followed by some sort of event. We've had discos, tribute acts, murder mystery, quizzes, all great fun, the murder mystery was brilliant. Getting involved in that element of the club is helped by the fact my wife plays, as do her parents so it's a family thing going along to them, but even so it's great getting to know and play with so many members, means I'm never short of someone to play with outside of the social comps and have plenty of people to talk to when I'm down at the club, I love it.

Quiz nights in the winter are always popular. We have run night golf the last two years and it has been heavily oversubscribed and great fun. 'Professional' day and 'Captain and committee' days are always fun too with lots of daft comps on the course and crazy pin positions etc. Make it fun and they will come.

Race night, casino night, curry night, poker night, cheese and wine night. Kids day, including a bouncy castle and beat the keeper went down exceptionally well.

Best of luck to the OP but I’m not a member of a clubhouse so can’t help with suggestions

Although it could be said if the members don’t fancy using the clubhouse it doesn’t mean others won’t. I’m going to a Chefs evening later this week at the local course, now’t fancy just set menu, special price etc etc for him to showcase his food because the place is happy to not just be a clubhouse for the course but also a venue for the wider community &/or nomadic players to use

sorry for the tangent but might be relevant

I like the idea of a murder mystery, hopefully that will appeal to all members, especially combined with Halloween maybe

My club puts on a Christmas Show (themed musical/variety) - Friday, Saturday evenings and Sunday matinee - with Sunday lunch before hand. Dozens of members involved writing, producing and performing to 'packed houses' of members and friends.

Separately we have a club 'rock' choir (couple of dozen strong) that rehearses 'standards 'and puts on 2 or 3 performances and year. Again very well supported.

Murder Mystery Evening with dinner - tick in that box also.

Additionally I host a Burns Supper and Ceilidh Dance at the club for church fundraising - with an open invitation to all club members - and quite a few come along. As a club we have done them in the past but not at the moment so I have stepped into the January gap. The vast majority of folks coming along will have never been to one before and if you do it 'right' most it seems really enjoy their evening.

our club often holds a comedy night (organised by a proper outside touring comedy circuit) - very good
quiz nights - run by one of the club members and very popular.
they have tried various food based events, but never any good as club run by a group and the chefs are basically microwave operators!
soul nights
elvis nights

During autumn and some winter months we have Fish and Chip Fridays. We order in advance either to sit in - or to take away. The chef does an absolutely cracking haddock and chips :)
