You might think it's a set-up

Mate of mine did that once and hit a concrete lady's marker box. It flew back straight past our heads (would have killed us if it had hit) and ended up across the 15th fairway on the edge of the trees. A 180 yard par 3 was now a 350 yard par 4 and he was playing his 2nd with more club than he'd taken off the tee. We couldn't play the hole properly for laughing all the way

Similar story to Homers....
I was playing with my younger brother a few months ago and he strayed off our 5th fairway off the tee onto our 6th.....When he got to the ball he was about 30 yards from the 150yrd marker on the 6th and i told him to aim straight over it and out onto the 5th.....Now the markers are about 3 feet high and about 2.5" in diameter.....The ball met it perfect and ended up about 30 yrds behind his original spot.....Very funny though to be playing your 3rd shot from further away from the intended target than your 2nd :D :D :D

the guy infront of me in an open competition did this off the first hole about 4 years ago. It hit the yellow tee marker flew back into the crowd waiting to tee off and hit the proshop door leaving a small dint. I was shitting it thinking i might do the same. According to his partner (a friend of mine) he had a 9 up the first, a 145yrd par 3. He walked off after 7. I think he plays football now

In a Club Championship years ago, one guy called Eric hit 2 drives OB on the 2nd hole. Taking 5 off the tee he then hit a tee marker in front, it cannoned back onto his ankle and then went OB.
We didn't bother counting, Eric didn't care - he went to hospital with a chipped bone in his ankle.

so what would the ruling be as to who plays next as I suppose he is now furthest from the hole but assuming some of his playing partners havent tee'd off yet. who would go next?

yeah im not totally sure hence the question. although if for example you was playing with a lady and you duff your tee shot 10 foot in front of you but not enough to reach ladies tee do you then continue or does the lady tee off first?

Cock out and swing again I would have thought!! :o :D

A four ball of friends of mine were playing 'camels' within there normal game. I dont know the game myself but its about the last one in the sand pays out.

Well there on the 18th fairway when one of them knocks his approach shot into the left hand bunker, that's £20 one of them shouts out from the right hand rough. This guy then shoots at the green, his ball hits a single very small thin tree about 40 yards in front of him, loops up and drops into a bunker behind him.

Apparently the other 3 guys could hardly play out the hole because of the laughter, and they each won £7 each.

My claim to fame came with a topped drive about 40 yards into thick rough, i moved it about 5 yrds with my 2nd shot and left myself in the same patch of rough but with a slightly better lie, then the miracle shot, as I swung, the club got snagged on the grass on the way through and sent the ball straight into a mighty oak tree, the ball then flew back passed my head to about 5 yards behind the tee box, leaving me playing my 4th shot behind where I hit my first without losing a ball :o

When i was at Reading, a member hit the ladies tee marker on the first with his drive, and then watched it fly back onto the clubhouse roof. The ball seemed to take for ever to roll down the tiles, before finishing on the practise putting green.

Still get a chuckle when i think about it again 30 years later. And no it was not me this time :D ;)

4th tee, wind up and into the power swing. a mighty CRACK!as the ball hits the concrete base of the winter tee immediately in front. a frantic cry of DUCK! and all hit the deck as the ball whizzes past on its way back across the tee until 40 yards behind a great CLANG! as the ball hammers the groundsman's tractor (the dent is still there) and ricochets into the trees and is now some 100 yards behind its starting point.
