What a joke of a service. I bought a car part last Thursday and the company used Yodel to deliver. Saturday of last week I get an out card despite being home all day. So I log on to their "my yodel" website to re-arrange delivery as you don't get the option to speak to anyone on the out card telephone number. So earliest date given is Wed 6th due to the Jubilee bank holidays.
So Wed comes and goes and no delivery (HID was home), so I called them today once I finally tracked down a Customer Service number to be told it was "delivered" on Tuesday 5th and they "had a signature". When I asked what the signature was they said it was a squiggle and couldn't make it out.
She said she would contact the driver, and did so returning some 10 mins later (10p per minute call) to say he delivered it to my neighbour and that's who signed for it... Funny though as my neighbour is in Mexico for 2 weeks and has been since Saturday of last week...
So I questioned this, turns out the driver signed it himself and left it at my neighbours door, in full view of a rural road and it's not there anymore...
Their answer to this? I need to contact the supplier... WHAT? I asked, yep you have to contact the supplier... It beggars belief.

:sbox::rant:

they are right in saying to contact the supplier, your contract is with them, not yodel.

Dont get me started on courier companies, the majority are utterly useless....

Sounds like yodel need to rebrand again ... It's a shame that each time they rebrand they don't get away from the crap service they provide !!

Greig, i cant stand them. They are by a country mile the worst courier company in the UK. Checkout some of there feedback on the net. Did you get your item in one piece, if you did you were luck.

Greig, sounds like Yodel are admitting to not fulfilling their customers contract (your supplier) by the driver not delivering to you nor anyone else by his own admission. Your supplier has no proof of delivery to you so should re-imburse or re-fill the contract, they can then take it up with Yodel

You couldn't make this stuff up. I went to another supplier for the part as I really need it and got one for a similar price. Bought it and then get an email saying it's been dispatched with.... you guessed it YODEL!!!! Could I be going 2 for 2 on losses here?

Had a similar story with DPD, really thought they were rubbish, until I saw an ad for a driver, they wanted 100 drops a day, how in heavens name is someone meant to deliver 100 items a day, not excusing the driver but it would seem to me that these companies put ridiculous pressure on their staff. They also hide behind intentionally difficult contact details.

Very weird as I have always had good service from DPD, weirdly I have heard MANY stories about their poor service.

I usually have issues with CityLink... I am sure there are some good ones out there, either that or its down to personal experiences...

Treat your staff like 'toilet produce' as many of the courier companies do...

Then they're gonna provide a 'toilet' service...

Not too hard to work out....

I used yodel for 1 month, in which I had more complaints and lost parcels than the whole 4 years before using Dpd/parcel line. They use all foreign labour, polish, Romanian and Croatian in our area...

I don't use bad language often on forums but referring to them as a shower of **** is a compliment. They would leave parcels with wrong people , at #64 instead of 164 and so on. I had regular customers refuse to use me until I changed back they were that bad

130 plus drops a day were the norm when I was delivering, although I doubt my mileage was as high as that of a courier driver.
To keep prices competetive companies have to take on more work than they can physically manage, this has an adverse affect on quality.
Parcelforce get a lot of stick on here and elsewhere but quality of service is 96.8% on timed deliveries, and that is having a universal service that services evry household in the UK

130 drops is unbelievable, no wonder delivery drivers are always in a rush, is that in a 8, 10, or 12 hour shift?

8 hours,

although as previously stated, my mileage was a lot lower then that of a courier. Delivering to a large industrial estate could account for 40+ drops a day then you have the housing estates so the drops add up quite quickly.

Not the same now though. PF only deal with timed deliveries now with Royal Mail taking packages.

No longer driving for a living.

spooky! never really heard of them till this thread.

I bought an item thru Tesco direct Tuesday, got express delivery for Wednesday. Just checked tracking number today and they state it was delivered by YODEL on Wednesday at 12 noon, someone was in ALL day and NO delivery!

Cant get YODEL idiots on the phone so had to send email................I cant believe they can just say its delivered when its very clearly not

I have actually got to the point that I ask who the courier will be and will actually cancel/not follow through with the order if Yodel are going to delivery.

In my area they subcontract out to Eastern Europeans who don't work a full day, claim to have delivered when they haven't and claim to have attempted delivery when they clearly haven't.

Their customer service is non-existent as they don't have a contact number and never reply to emails.

Having seen reviews of them online I just can't understand why companies still choose to use them!
