Tour Winner
For what it is worth, I have carried since day one of picking up a club. This included playing a course week in and week out that mountain goats would baulk at, back then I used a mizuno tourbag too. I did try a leccy trolley for a few weeks but found it more hassle than help. My back has never once given any twinges nor pains. In my mind it has actually helped strengthen my back over the time.
Golf is a sport, just like darts, snooker and tennis.
As well as being outside breathing fresh air, I am competing against other guys while trying to beat the course at the same time. Some guys (more the majority these days) prefer to make the game as less strenuous as possible, well that is up to them, to me I'll carry until my doctor says not to.
so you played the extrem 19 often then?
congrats on the back, you are lucky and I hope you remain so.
I think we are forgetting that this topic did not start as a rant about juniors with trolleys - the OP referred to a couple of guys in their 30's. Again it's down to personal choice.
At a young age, carrying a few pounds of golf bag isn't going to keep you in the peak of physical fitness; The important thing (in terms of kids) is that they are out there actually doing something ie playing the game for real instead of Tiger Woods on the PS3.
With regards to kids being dropped off at the course and collected - we don't all live in nice leafy Surrey, I know a lot of areas around here where a kid seen walking down the street with a bag of clubs would soon be totally unencumbered by the aforementioned item.
Darts is not a sport.
That is all
