brought new clubs 4 weeks ago, and finally got to use them today, played some great shots, some not so great shots, but overall im very impressed with my new sitcks, it was a shame that the greens were so unpredictable otherwise i could of had an acceptable score. however after 4 months without playing impressed with how i done
hope you all had had a good first round after the dodgy weather.....

Interesting how most of us seem to play well after a break. The assistant pro at my club always used to say that we all played too much (when given half the chance). I remember as a teenager playing at least 36 holes per day during the summer holidays and it was only when we had a couple of days of heavy rain that I took a break. Straight after I would always play my best golf. Perhaps it is a lesson for us all.

Is it because, after an enforced break due to weather or whatever, you return to the course with no or low expectation?

You then shoot a score that you know you are capable of and are happy with the result.

BUT, the more frequently you play the greater your expectation, you hope for all the bad shots to evaporate and to card a brilliant score. Then when that doesn't happen you play more and the expectation goes up and up!

Works the opposite for me. If I can get a regular run of games I tend to find some consistancy especially putting etc. If I have a long break I struggle. I hit it lousy yesterday and was a bit better today although not great. It felt as though it was coming together especially the irons. Hoping a range session tomorrow will have me able to start 2011 on the front foot
