Would you rather be..............

Good putter for me. If you hit the green in two and three putt, you feel well frustrated but if you hack about for four shots and one putt for a five you feel well chuffed.

This

Putting every time for me nothing better than no three or four putts in a round, get really frustrated with a three putt and a four putt:(

Good putter every time. If you can get it in the hole regularly to save par or make a birdie it makes up for the odd bad drive

The trouble is if you're a poor driver of the ball then it's not the odd poor one, it's several.
I'm in agreement with those that say both

You can be the best putter in the World but if it takes you 5 to get to each green then you're not going to score.
You can be the best driver and hit every fairway, long and straight - but if you can't sink the putts you're still not going to score

There's no right or wrong anser to this sort of question

In strict terms I'd rather be a good putter than a good driver. I can be mediocre off the tee and make up for that on the green, but a missed put always costs a shot.

However if the choice was between being a bad driver or a bad putter, I'd say bad putter because a bad putt will generally only cost me 1 shot. A bad drive can cost more than that.

Besides I've got used to being a bad putter now. :o

Well, lets say you drop driving to 25%, roughly 3/4 middle of the fairway screamers, but you take full advantage of the 29 putts...you're onto a good round.

Drive for show, putt for dough!

Both have merits but being a bad driver can put you in more trouble than your putter can, its also easier to practice putting.

So I'd rather be longer and more accurate off the tee, so a better driver for me.
