Played our roll up today was 20 of us there. Some people wearing cargo trousers, some wearing walking trousers, hoodies, traditional golfing attire and shock horror Shorts with Ankle socks 😳.

A great time was had by all, all rules were followed, golfing etiquette was exemplary. Plenty of banter and laughs, even a couple of caps worn in the bar. Nobody died, nobody got upset but everyone had a good morning and the bar made plenty of profit in coffees, drinks and food.

Was you at a golf course or scrumping for apples. šŸ˜‚
Can’t believe you wasn’t all wearing plus 4s and smoking pipes.
Did the world stop turning?

Scrumping, that takes me back!
Weirdly the world kept tuning and nobody was offended šŸ˜‚

One guy even played in Hoka running trainers as he’s had a previous knee replacement and has found they’re the only thing that help him play 18holes without knee issues. He’s never asked for permission to wear them, it didn’t offend anyone, didn’t damage the course and meant a really nice guy is still able to play golf and get out and about. The cheek of it šŸ˜‚

Obviously a Muni that lets anyone in.šŸ˜‡

I hope none of the ankle socks were white!🤬

I don’t even know where my local Muni would be šŸ¤”

The only thing I can think that potentially would come under that is Pine Ridge in Camberley and that’s a set up far removed from your typical municipal course. I’m gonna have to actually google that now m, what a great question !

All of the socks were white. Heinous crime they should all be put down šŸ˜‚

Next you will be telling me they let Women join and some of the members are tradesman.
Great that guy can still get his golf even if he has to wear different footwear ( obviously as long as they are not crocs), that might be his only exercise or social activity each week.

We have a sign directing commercial and large vehicles to a separate area of the car park. One bloke was moaning about snobbery, until it was pointed out that the area has larger spaces and gaps to accommodate bigger vehicles.
Do they tell you in advance?šŸ˜‰

I'd forgotten about the other courses mentioned above.. played them all, but maybe I'm not a prolific shorts wearer.

I'm pretty sure each course sends helpful info about requirements.

Ours is much simpler, we don't have a dress code.
A notice is put out that Gentlemen and Ladies members and visiting are expected to know how to dress and comfort themselves at a golf club , those who do not will be invited to leave.
We have had very little trouble, there's always the occasional idiot who has white ankle socks and shorts or believes it appropriate to have an open neck in the club house. But we don't try and flog them the alternatives just show them to the club down the road.
This is worse than not having a dress code!
I assume you were joking about wearing white ankle socks with shorts @Backache ???

Well they let me join and god knows what I amšŸ˜‚

I totally agree about his trainers. If anyone had an issue with it I’d speak up on his behalf and only met him today. He’s not harming anyone and is getting to play his golf and be a member of the club.

When we played Royal Dornoch in September last year the member we played with rocked up in running trainers and running hoodie and was warmly welcomed by the starter šŸ˜€

Rightly so and I bet he had a great day knowing he was comfortable. šŸ˜

As it is not written I cannot be certain however that is my understanding.
I certainly wouldn't dream of it.
Further highlights your ā€œnon dress codeā€ā€™turn up as expected! Issues. If I turn up in ankle socks I haven’t broken your rules but you might ask me to leave , whereas others may not as it’s far to opinion based šŸ¤·šŸ¼
