Playing with a regular PP who is known to miscount shots on some holes. There is no malice in it and it's always a genuine error. We laugh about it from time to time, as I've done it myself.
What has never happened before is that during a bounce game he played his fifth stone dead and in for 6 (par 5). However he stated it was there for four and in for 5.
I was on the green for 3 and had a putt 'for the win'. It was a lengthy putt and not even a 2-putt certainty. I questioned the number of shots and he confirmed it was in for 5. There were people waiting to play so instead of wasting time I hit the putt and it dropped so I won the hole anyway.
On the way to the next tee I brought up his shots as I wasn't happy about being under pressure when I could have just had a simple 2 putt for the win. The other two in the group were out of the hole by that point so not really paying attention.
He just said 'you won the hole anyway' and he seemed miffed that I even brought it up. Like I say there's no malice and the thread isn't about that, but would you have told him?
