working in the golf industry.

That's the guy I know, he's an ex club pro and still holds a PGA pro status. Good guy and now doing promotion development (or whatever its called) looking for the next big star for Titleist.

He had to move to St Ives in Cambridge for his job.

Agree top bloke, and he can knock out 3 Vokey wedges in about 30 mins:clap:

Yip, pity I don't see him enough to knock a few out for me though.

These guys are top class, I was with Scott for a bit at the Johnnie Walker in Gleneagles and amazing what they do for pros, also amazing what the pros demand too from wedge stamping to sole grinding to the exact degree.

When the forum lads played the PING tour van, PING had an 18 handicapper on their team.

Obviously, I can't confirm whether he actually worked on the van or was just roped in for the day.

Happy to be corrected.

James and smiffy played against a five and a mid teens (I think). One was connected to the tour bus side, may be drove it? One (higher h/cap) was office based. There was a real mix of h/caps that day, but in general the ping team was lower than the gm team.

is there anyone here that works within the golf industry (except bob mac), and more importantly does their own personal enjoyment vary because its their job aswell.

Ah, you're talking about me!

I'm lucky, over the last 10 years I've twice had the chance to work in the industry of my two hobbies, poker and golf.

poker came first, and I managed two online poker rooms, I had formerly and during played a ton of online poker, and was obbsessed, lived, worked etc poker, unfortunately in 2009 I was paid off, then played professionally (I'd been a winning player for 10 years) and grew to hate the game, to the extent I could barely make myself log onto a computer every day.

I then managed to find a job in the golf industry, and on joining, my first day was met with questons about how much golf I played, and how they had fared.

It seemed the genral consensus was that once they got involved that they played less and less golf until they couldn't even maintain a handicap. Bugfger thought I, poker reprised....

But no, turns out I am like my boss, and rather than losing my urge, Ihave refound my all consuming passion fior the game, I know what's what as far as clubs go, i can tell someone at 100 paces what cvlubs they should use, and more importantly my own game has comne on immeasurabely, and I've even taken more lessons (2) in the past three months than I've taken in my entire 28 year golfing career.

love the game, hate ignorant know it alls, of which sadly this forum has a heap, hence why I've rarely posted and tend to stay on Magic.

If you have nothing nice to say, say nothing?

That really doesn't come across well, and may be you would be better off on 'magic'. Golfwrx is always good for the anally retentive too.

No-one is forcing you to stay. Its a forum and everyone is entitle to their opinion. Go back to the love in at Magic if it annoys that much

Are you still here.

Chill out.

Its probably one of the most annoying things on earth, some ignorant numpty trying to tell you your job and thinking they know best.

Sometimes things don't come across as they should on an internet forum. Homer took a cheap shot and told him to go to another site, he responded with another cheap shot.

No need for anyone to get Y-fronts in a twist.
