Woods: Its gonna get a lot lot worse.......

Nike won't drop Wood as he is responsbile for getting them into such a strong place in the golf market. I'm more interested in these rumours about him having had it away with a well know British presenter. Does anyone know who it was

I have it on good authority, but please keep it quiet, it was Archie Macpherson.....wooooof!! :D

I'll tell you what lads, I'd love to be in the locker room at the next few tournaments he plays in. Some players will remain in awe of the man, but others will hopefully take the **ss out of him unmercifully. The banter could be electric, and I can't see him handling it well :D :D :D

As golfers we all still admire TW the golfer and his achievements on course but TW the person is a bit of a low-life it seems which is a shock everyone is just getting used to. :(

I’m interested…….shocked, getting used to. TW has been with, lets say, various consenting females. Now I didn’t expect this but it’s no shock and it’s certainly nothing I need to get used to. I can think of a few situations that have shocked me, but not this.

Apart from his wife the only person this will effect is TW himself. How it will effect him exactly is another question, but it will be interesting.

Call me naive Tommo but I hadn't heard any rumours about TW being a womaniser, I bought into the squeaky clean family man image of a sportsman who seemed to be on a higher plane than any other golfer and possibly sportsman. I was genuinely shocked by the whole episode initially, now I agree it is just interesting in a nosey neighbour kind of way and a little disappointing to be frank.

I would think the word shock or shocking can cover a pretty wide range of emotion. Alan Hansen regularly refers to 'shocking defending' in football punditry but it doesn't literally mean he was shocked when he saw it. You know what I mean, maybe 'surprised' would have been a more accurate word to use but hey-ho does it really matter? :p

I have to say the guy has shown extraordinary mental capacity at stages in his career and so I think once he gets back out into a competitive event it'll be business as usual on the course at least. That said I can see the inevitable media circus affecting him pre and post round so maybe he'll not be able to deal with it and he might play badly. Who knows but sure is going to make the start of next season interesting

There is no way any sponser will drop Tiger as they know he has massive pulling power,

Yep, Thats what got him into trouble in the first place

I think that the byword here should be "let only he who is without Sin, Cast any Stones"

Thus endeth todays lesson from the Reverend Fragger

Dear Rev Fragger,

You got the quote wrong, it should be:

Let he who is without sin cast the first stone

Once the first stone has been thrown, the sinners can all join in :)

Yours

Rev R Sleeker

What ever I think about Woods, I never had him for a moron. However, I am having to change that opinion, and he is as stupid as you can get.

If you are a famous sportsman, and you want to play around, don't knock off the waitress from the cafe outside your house, where you and the missus have breakfast. You are going to get caught. Doubly so for knocking her off in the marital bed.

You might get away with it if you were on tour, in asia or somewhere, as a one off, but at home? No way. Too many people knew what was going on to keep it quiet. If you got caught out on tour, at least the excuse I was lonely and it was a one off event that meant nothing might get you out of the hole you are in, but you can't say the same over an affair with a waitress out side your home.

Stupid. Very stupid, and a bit disappointing really. Thought he was cleverer than that. Turns out he is Stan Collymore reborn.

I take your point drawboy but surely it's more than a molehill?
TW was a role model, he isn't any more.

Interesting reply, birdie man. I don't susually pay much attention to antics of superstars and even feel a smidge of sympathy when they cock up and fall victim to the huge media machine. But something about this one feels different. Maybe it's the way he tried to cover it, or the fact that he created his own squeaky clean media persona. Also, golf is an intensely individual sport and we watch them for their particular performance and attitude, rather than for the thrill of a contest. I was never one of the Tiger is God brigade, but respect him I did. Now I'm not so sure I'd pay money to see him play. Feels like he has pulled a fast one on his public.

Will be interested to see how the golfing press report this whole incident. It is the biggest story in golf at the moment and everyone is going to want all of the details (which are bound to be out in the tabloids by the time the next round of golf mags are published). Unlike the mainstream media, however, the golfing press rely on Nike for advertising, access and articles so wonder whether there is any pressure from Nike to stick to the basic facts or even brush over the story totally.

Interesting view Greg. Bill Elliott has written his column about the subject for the forthcoming issue (focusing on the fact that Tiger has been so careful to avoid publicity but through his off course indescretions has exposed himself to masses of coverage) but that where our 'coverage' starts and stops.

That's not becuase we'd be worried about upsetting Nike but all to do with the fact that these revelations have got nothing really to do with the game of golf.

As a serious golf magazine we cover what happens on the courses and issues surrounding the game of golf not celebrity tittle tattle whichis really what this is.

That's why we have given plenty of column inches in 2009 to what we regard as his poor on course behaviour (swearing, spitting, club throwing, surlyness etc) but we'll leave the moralising on his off course activities behaviour to others.

Never expected anything else from GM but would be interested to see how this is covered across the whole spectrum of golf magazines. I am sure that at least one will not be able to resist a bigger banner headline revealing the whole 'truth' about the Tiger saga. After all, this is the one golfing story that has wider appeal and could sell outside of the usual golfing readership.

I have seen that Nike have lined up new drivers etc in the Victory Red range, as this is so heavily based on TW is there any news on them delaying launch until this blows over.

They have delayed them until Elin has approved the 3 iron!

This has done serious damage to his "image" off course and in the short term probably his golf as well.

He'll still win loads between now and his 40th though.
