An interesting read.....
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-...ffair-news.html

I know we all have private lives, and private needs, but quite frankly, this whole sorry story just keeps taking new and sadder twists, and quite how the hell Woods thought it was never all going to come out is beyond me.

I would also doubt Nike and a host of other sponsors will stick with him after this has all run its course, and certainly think that it will take a lot for him to even show his face again in 2010, let alone play as well again.

It also shows the real legends to be just that.......
Tom Watson take a bow.

The sponsors will be mostly concerned about his golf. They will be content to wait for this affair to blow over.

It certainly didn't have any impact on Mr Beckham after his affair so I cannot really see it having any bearing on Tiger. He hasn't killed anyone and he will not be the last rich sport star to use the old 15th club away from the course. It is a mountain out of a mole hill and will soon be wrapping chips like all the others. Yeah it will cost him a few dollars but he can afford it and it will not take him long to earn it back. He is a man after all and an easy target for money hungry bimbo's. I agree he was wrong but lets not crucify the guy. there are thousands and thousands of men who have done the same thing. That's my tuppence worth out of the way.

One peice in the article says that his massive earnings rely on him being a clean-cut sportstar!! SO you have to be clean-cut and have no skeletons to win tournaments and the millions in prize money that he's got? OK the sponsership deals might not have been as good (can you really see Nike dropping the only real asset they've got?) but he's made a lot of money on-course.

Apart from Elin and the kids, who's going to be the biggest losers here?
Tiger's got enough money - he doesn't need to do another days work in his life. He may just look at this and think - bugger it, I'm retiring now, going to live on a beach somewhere.

We lose out because he doesn't play anymore. Golf loses out because the greatest player of his (and arguably any) generation packs it in becasue everyone is obsessing about his private life, who he's done, who he may have done etc etc.

This belongs in Hello or OK or one of those other crap celeb based loo rolls. I don't care what he's done or what he hasn't done. Its his problem and let him sort it out.

Would this be still rumbling on if Mike Weir or Jim Furyk were in the frame? And we're perpetuating it by reading it.

I've had enough of it.

I take your point drawboy but surely it's more than a molehill?
TW was a role model, he isn't any more.

I think some people are ok with seeing the arrogant, aloof, ungracious side of him chopped down a bit. The carefully built clean cut image was a charade and people feel cheated by him.

I hope his Anitopdean thug caddie Mr Williams shows a bit more humility and manners too now it's been revealed his man isn't 'God' after all.

As golfers we all still admire TW the golfer and his achievements on course but TW the person is a bit of a low-life it seems which is a shock everyone is just getting used to. :(

There is no way any sponser will drop Tiger as they know he has massive pulling power, however some may just let the dust settle,as been said already this is nothing new 2 the sporting world,i say look at David beckham, was ready 2 be lynched after the world cup, then went out 2 america and got the biggest football deal ever, also now everybody wants a piece of beckham, also now he is a world icon, people will soon 4 get wats happened 2 tiger as soon as he starts playing and winning again.Im trying 2 imagine now if i was in his shoes, having everything that i need wanting 4 nothing, maybe it cud become boring and as us men know theres only really one thing that gets the juices flowing,so 2 speak.

Ok maybe too strong a term, I apologise if that caused offence but it is a term used quite frequently in reports about Steve Williams behaviour towards golf fans who in the end make it possible for pro golfers like TW to be as successful as they are.

Smashing peoples cameras, being physically imtimidating to spectators, insulting publically other golf pros and being generally unpleasant on the course is perhaps more accurate. He appears to believes, like his employer, that Team TW is more important than everyone else on the course - which they're not....imo.

Yep, Thats what got him into trouble in the first place

One thing really gets me in all of this coverage and that is the Sheer Hypocracy of the news media. (Obviously excluding the Golfing press who are all saints) How many Journalists, reporters, editors etc are having illicit affairs, Ok they may not be as high profile as TW. but they still continue to bang on about it whilst some of them are tainted with the same brush.

I think that the byword here should be "let only he who is without Sin, Cast any Stones"

I would really enjoy seeing a smug holier than thou reporter get caught with his trousers down.

Thus endeth todays lesson from the Reverend Fragger

:D :D

He's an even greater role model for me now :D
Billions of $'s and a whole harem of women.... perfik :D

Nike make at least ten times what they pay Woods they are not gonna drop him, in todays world its money not morals that talk.

They pay him $18m and the golf division makes $480m - so fair to say Nike won't give a mishit about it.

Although it's a bit odd to use the word 'morals' and 'Nike' in the same sentence anyway...

Gillette would be the most likely one to leave him out, but the reality is that most of his sponsors will just duck and cover for a few months.

Never did much like TW the person - he always struck me as a mardy git. And I don't care how many extra clubs in the bag he's had - just one is enough to prove him to be somewhat more of a sh*te than I thought.

But TW the golfer is still the best golfer in the world. Model your golf on him - just not your life. As for the tabloids - well, your bum still needs wiping...

Will be interested to see how the golfing press report this whole incident. It is the biggest story in golf at the moment and everyone is going to want all of the details (which are bound to be out in the tabloids by the time the next round of golf mags are published). Unlike the mainstream media, however, the golfing press rely on Nike for advertising, access and articles so wonder whether there is any pressure from Nike to stick to the basic facts or even brush over the story totally.
