Woods. Contender or making up the numbers

I suppose right now the only person that knows is himself and those that work closely with him.

Personally I'm going to play it safe and say he's making up the numbers given the lack of competitive golf he's played recently but I'm pretty intrigued to see where his game is at over the next 4 days.

Ive just watched the duration of his 20min press conference and he's claiming he's there to win and his game is in great shape?

If he didnt believe he could compete he wouldn't be there, he has nothing to prove to anyone except himself.

Was talking about this at the club last night, my view is that if he can chip the ball onto a green now he might just make the cut.

I think his game is either in as good a condition as he's saying it is, and he'll play well, or he sees Augusta as his final hurrah. His whole outlook this week has been completely different to what we're used to seeing from Woods, and so it wouldn't surprise me if he's planning to retire after this tournament. We'll wait and see. I'd love to see the old Tiger back and contending on Sunday!

Not sure I'm convinced and don't think he'll make the cut purely because I'm not sure his driving is still on form. Very happy for him to prove me wrong and be in with a shout come the back nine on Sunday but can't see it

I thought he would have no chance but from what I've seen/heard he looks good.

Also the who new friendly/open Tiger is all a little strange but could help him.

Quite tempted to have a little bet on him to finish Top 5

Was Tiger's driving ever that great? I was watching highlights of the 2005 Masters the other day and he was spraying it all over the place. Didn't stop him making birdies though.

Watching the Par 3 comp he seems in good shape physically and mentally (more importantly)

Personally i hope he plays well, if he retires "hurt" from this , i fear it would be the last we see of him competitively

I'm in the same boat as Homer but I have a slight little Ben Crenshaw "I have a feeling about this...trust me..." that won't let me rule him out.

i suppose 12 hours from now we'll know one way or another.

I like the happier, friendlier Tiger on show this week so far and he looked good in the par 3 comp, as much as you can tell from that. Butch said he's looked good on the range so you never know.

I'm on the fence, he's definitely not making up the numbers any more than the rest of the field, outside of the five or six favourites, are but unlikely to be a genuine contender either.

I reckon a reasonable performance, making the cut but not challenging. The first step on the latest road back!

I'll be quite happy to be proved incorrect but we heard all this "I feel good, the game's in good shape" stuff earlier in the year and that resulted in an indefinite break after a MC and a WD.
I think he's making up numbers and will miss the cut.

Definitely. Seve was fairly wild off the tee at times, but could always make birdies.

I am actually contemplating throwing a few quid on Tiger for an e/w. Watching him yesterday he seemed very relaxed and different to how he has been seen for a long time. yes he has had injuries, but i very much doubt he would risk further injury by playing if not ready.

If there is one guy in the field that knows how to win its him. Yep, i talked myself into it! fiver e/w on tiger here i go!!

EDIT: Just seen he has dropped from 45/1 yesterday to 28/1 today!! not sure if i will bother now..

No idea at this stage, although from what I've seen and read, his game looks good. Much easier doing it on the practise ground, though.

I hope he is up near the top of the leaderboard over the weekend. Like him or not, Tiger contending in a Major again will be a great thing to see.

Anyone who watched him on the range monday and tuesday (and to a fair extent, the par 3 tourny) will have put a couple of quid on him, thats all Im saying beyond... I did.

Roots, I got him at 45/1 on Monday after watching his funked up practice! hehe that guy has no worries about his game really, he may hit the odd handicapper shot but hes a survivor.
