I did hear a rumour that it had closed, but know nothing definite. Shame though as it was a decent course with some nice holes - apart from at this time of year when it normally got flooded for the winter months.

I was there a few weeks ago

Was starting to look like a bog in places but still played fine

Shame if its closed down, and a bigger shame to the members who cant get their clubs back at present!

Yeah it's a shame cause it's a nice layout it just suffers with the rain especially over winter which has a knock on effect as it never quite gets in good condition in summer.

Apparently Woodham is defiantly shut, not sure if it's for good but my Dad said it was in a local paper the other day.

Big shame about Woodham. I was a member there about 10 years ago when it was in its hay day. Probably has one of the best lay outs in the area, just has always suffered with drainage problems. Not the fault of the club - the course it built on clay, so doesn't stand a chance really.

With the increased rainfall (or at least intensity of it) in the last 5-7 years theres only ever been 3-4 months where the course is properly playable. As a result memberships dropped like a stone and they resorted to offering tee times for £10.

In June there were stories that the green keepers hadn't been paid and having played in July and September you could see that no new stock was coming into the shop. Seems therefore to have been a long, slow death for the club.

In terms of the clubs still in lockers I think its harsh but fair to say 'more fool them'. Yes the club should release them, but as an outsider this has been on the cards for a long long time.

Surely it is illegal to prevent members getting their gear. They aren't fixed assets of the club or the owners
They will get them back after the receivers have got things sorted, normal practice, when I worked at a car dealership and it went bust all the mechanics had their tool boxes on site, got them back after 5-6 weeks.

Yeah i noticed when I played their a couple if months a go they seemed to be trying to get rid of a lot of old stock in the shop without any actual new stock coming in.

I also know some of the buggies got stolen/vandised about a month a go.

Oh and I've just noticed you are a member at Blackwell GC, it's a small world! Haha.
