Watched last 20 mins of Canada vs New Zealand last night first time I’ve watched women’s rugby and I was impressed.
Not being a fan of women’s football I was surprised I was excited watching the rugby.

I was looking forward to today’s game and wasn’t disappointed, admittedly there were some basic errors but overall the commitment and skill was mighty impressive, I’m looking forward to the final now, well done the England lasses.

Theres been some absolute crackers of games. Wales Fiji was a barnstormer. The one thing that has really struck is up until the quarters, there had been almost no box kicking.

Is it Kildunne of England that just looks an absolute genius when she has the ball in her hands. She is the type of player that gets bums out of seats.
Cannot help but once more think that Women’s rugby like women’s football is showing the men the way forward.

Yeah. You can really see that she played League when she was younger. Dual code players make great backs in Union.

Yes, her ball skills are immense.
However, Botterman, Sarah Berne, Meg Jones and Amy Cockayne have all been so important as well.
To me, our biggest weekness is flyhalf.

It's a shame they can't tackle properly. Maybe that's why they don't have teeth missing and broken noses.
Or just you don't have any understanding of rugby with your blinkered views.
If you had watched any of the games, you would have seen some awesome tackling putting th attackers backwards.
But then, am I suprised by your comments, no.

But male rugby players are so famously beautiful and unaffected by the rough and tumble of the sport.

Yes I played rugby at school for years and I have seen some of their games.
I was also taught how to tackle and it wasn't by shirt pulling or grabbing their arms.
Nobody can run without their legs was the mantra. Tackle them round the hips and slide down.

Even the men don't do that much anymore as the idea is to trap the ball to prevent the offload or form a maul or generally slow the ball down or even dislodge it. You also do not want your head near the knees for risk of head contact and concussion. There is also the aim to drive players back in a dominant tackle. You only really aim that low when you are trying to chop tackle on the line.

It is amazing that Canada are in the final having humbled New Zealand yet they have little backing and had to crowd fund their trip to the world cup. Sadly many if the early results just emphasised the problem of some teams being full time and fully funded whilst others have little to no funding. Sadly women's rugby suffers the same problem as the mens game, TV companies etc are interested in the world cup and 6 nations but have no interest in supporting or promoting the club game

I know the idea is to kill the ball, but when an outside centre/winger is at full pelt, the only way to stop them is to stop them from running.
The problem I see defenders have is the outright speed of the backs.
Once they've broken through there's no way to catch them.

I did see one attempt by an England player to tackle a fast running opponent she got it completely wrong and flapped about at the French girls arm. It looked like she didn’t want to hurt herself.
Overall there was some very good hard correct tackles going in by both sides.

Even the men have those that don’t tackle as well, both now and in the past. I remember the Underwoods being a tad weak at tackling.

Well done England lasses winning World Cup, just to strong for Canada.
Must say I’ve enjoyed watching the women’s rugby exiting and impressive.
Having seen some of the excellent tackling yesterday, Im waiting for the "girly tackling" comments to come out from those who dont respect womens rugby for what it is, an excellent womens game played at full throttle and with full intent.

Canada looked great all the way through the tournament. I expected a very close game yesterday but England dominated the match. Canada pushed well early in the second half and it looked like whoever got the next try would have a significant impact on the outcome. England, almost against the run of play at that point, got it and closed the game out comfortably.

After close on 25 years at fullback, I didn’t see anything wrong with the tackling ;)
