Hi all

Due to play the Dukes and Duchess courses next week and would love to read a hole by hole review of the courses (if possible). Does anyone know of a site that does these? the 3/4 lines on the Woburn site don't quite cut the mustard.

Being honest here - I would go there and just let the course review itself when you play

Both courses have some stunning holes

The Dukes is a bit more open with some great par 3's - the third is one of the best in the country IMO.

Every hole has its own character - the duchess is tight as a ducks bottom.

Greens are full of subtle breaks and getting quicker by the day.

Enjoy the halfway huts and say hi to the fox near the 5th on the Dukes.

All the flowers are starting to bloom through and bursting with colour

Enjoy the day

I know it's not exactly what you want but I honestly think a hole by hole review want do it justice and they do prefer to let the courses tell their own story when you play

Agree 100% with you here. One of my favourite golf clubs in the country and it's magic has made me return year after year. I liked the fact it took me several visits before I really got to grips with the place, leaving me wanting to return time after time.

Sound advice imo. Though the Duchess isn't quite s tight as it might seem. You still need to keep it pretty straight, but the apparent tightness is magnified by the height of the trees!

Dukes does indeed have a great set of Par 3s and some really good other holes on the front but, to me, is slightly dull on the back 9. Duchess is a 'battle' all the way around! Been a while since I've played it but, from memory, the 1st is the least 'defined' hole. I think slightly right of centre, but avoiding the rhodendrons, is the best line.

Quite close to where I live. I have been looking at joining but might find it hard to persuade my regular PP to join as well.

Went to the British Masters in 1990 something or other and first time I saw Faldo. Thought back then I'd like to play the 2 courses back then before the marchioness or whatever it's called was built. Still not gone and played it, enquired a few years back to play as a single and got told no you can't play as a single..........Kind of put me off of the place.. Strange lot.

You don't need a hole by hole guide. It's a case of what you see, nothing there to trick you. They do decent course guides in the pro shop if you want something visual to refer to. Very good set up there and I always enjoy playing there. Personally I think the Marquess is the tightest course and you'll be fine on the Duke and Duchess

I played the marquess last year and loved it..... The point of the thread was more a knowledge thing. I'm the same every time I play a new course.... love to read all about it, pick up some hints etc.... its all part of the experience to me.

Best tip i would say to you right now - be below the hole - The Dukes on Friday was getting very fast - pin on 3rd was at the front and my PP putted off the green and hardly touched it.

Couple of Par 5s you can go for - especially the first. Last you can have a crack at it - be safe on the 2nd and go right - plenty of space out there without risking taking too much off the gully - The rest its pretty much how you see it - maybe go one more club up on the 8th.

Duchess - on the first your safer on the left hand side of the fairway - take one more for your approach , again for the 2nd take an extra club . On the Duchess most of the dog legs are right to left so favour the right side of the fairway (bar the first ) - again most of the rest are as you see them.

Both D's are comfortably tighter than the Marques........
