I never said "cheap, nasty, poor material" its more the feel and the quality of the product, just didnt get it.... I would add the balls seem to discolour very quickly too.
I should add im not a golf snob and if wilson staff equipment helps and improves your handicap, delighted for you, just not for me.
That's fair enough mikeb4. What Wilson irons have you hit?

No you didn't but I never said that either I said this What do you mean by quality, like, cheap nasty, poor materials? (see the question mark there) I asked what you meant by it and gave some examples which you may have meant, I mean you didn't actually say what you meant. You said quality without quantifying it. Feel has very little to do with quality, there are plenty of players who find a certain golf balls feels crap regardless of how expensive it is or don't get on with a certain club or 10 regardless of cost.

Now if you had just said Wilson clubs don't work for me I don't like the feel of them and I have used a few balls and they discolour quickly it's a lot clearer than a term like quality which has so many meaning's.

One of the difficulties getting feed back on things that you don't like are people have a tendency to not use them much specifically because they don't like them. Example I bought some of the new trusoft balls, took them on the putting green and hated them immediately, felt hard and jumpy. Played 2 holes with them and gave them to my kids to lose. Now if someone says what are Trusoft balls like I would say crap, hated them but really I only used them for 15 minutes so they ain't really awful they just don't work for me that doesn't make them crap or poor quality though. Most people do not use stuff they dont like long enough to give me

You may not be a golf snob but the comment that Wilson Clubs helps and improves your handicap is what exactly, a golf snob comment if there ever was one.

I reckon i will be in the minority but i am not a fan of Wilson Staff equipment, i dont think it is the same quality as the leading brands ie Taylormade Callaway Ping or Mizuno
Obviously entitled to your opinion.
Here is a snip from MGS recent cobra F9 article. It is just one facet of course.

Chrome Plating
This is one of those things that most consumers don’t think about, and many probably don’t care about, but I believe you should. In this spot in the market, a good number of the offerings aren’t chrome plated because it saves the manufactures a little bit of money. Mizuno chromes, Titleist does, PING’s recent offerings have been plated, and now Cobra does to. Callaway and TaylorMade, what are you waiting for?

The market leaders are sacrificing quality to save a buck, and because of it, the best-selling products on the market show wear much more quickly than they should. It’s not a small thing. For what irons cost, every damn set on the market should offer a durable finish. It’s nice to see Cobra making an effort to raise the quality of its product and give you a bit more for your money.

Doesn't mention Wilson Staff either. But does call out a few of the "leading brands"

What are you moving from? You mentioned you hit them well. I only glanced and thought they seemed a tad chunky, but they are on my radar as a serial de-lofter they may be a good option.
As per my signature at the moment. Great clubs but I struggle for length & don't get on well with hybrids in the wind. I was getting 15 to 20 yards more fron the 7 iron than my current 6 iron. I'm relying on being able to hit the 4 iron OK, because they're so easy to hit, & this will close the gap at the top of the bag. May need to do something about the wedges, will now go 43°, 50°, 58° but I'll see how it goes.

My son had wilson fg tour irons, and i had for a short period wilson pmp wedges and had some fg tour balls, not impressed, also won a wilson staff golf top which did not last.
You didn't rate the FG Tour irons? The V6 irons get great reviews.

Do you see any similarities in a certain expensive brand's Napa style putter? :D

The 8802 and 8813 are great putters, I've got a rough old 8813 that putts beautifully.

I love that head design on a putter, I have a 8802, Oddyssey No. 8 and adore it. I would like to get the Napa at some point but at £600-800 these days I think i'll pass.

You can still buy a new putter off the shelves with this head but literally only Wilson that I can find do this. Scotty offer nothing similar these days and their new putter lineup frankly looks gross, same can be said for Odyssey but at least they have some models that aren't vomit inducing.

Mickelson needs to use a No. 8 again and bring them back from the dead.

Don’t think it is,
I think feel is very important, but what do I know and I reiterate if it works for you whatever you use and u see continual improvement you stick with it.

Ha, I turned off the signatures ages ago!
Just turned them back on but still not showing so maybe have exposed a forum defect.

I'd say they're similar to Benross. Decent kit but not used as much because people buy into the marketing hype of playing with Rose or DJ or Rory's clubs.

I'm a beginner and I've got a set of Di9 irons I use, picked up for a massive £60 including brand new golf pride tour wraps. I tried some more expensive Pings, and some Callaway and found the W/S more forgiving and consistent.

I see Wilson Staff has been sold now could be interesting or sad times ahead for the brand.

As for the "inferior" quality quote earlier I'm another who doesn't buy that view. I know a couple of very very decent golfers who have/had Wilson Staff forged bats and they say they're as good as anything on the market.

Each to their own.

Wilson staff irons are a million miles away from benross in terms of profile. The benross stuff is ok at a game improvement level, but the Wilson fg62 demos I have are every bit as good as my mizuno mp irons. If I could find a decent condition set of the fg62s I’d put them in the bag

Took delivery of my D7 irons yesterday & tried them at the range today. First impressions are good, penetrating flight into a stiffish breeze & the 7 iron going certainly a bit farther than my old 6 iron. Everything down to the five iron is extremely easy to hit & it's encouraging that, in spite of the sole weighting, the ball doesn't launch ridiculously high. The four iron needs a good swing but when I flushed one it really flew. I've always had trouble hitting this club but it's encouraging that, although it's effectively a 3 iron in terms of length & loft, I can hit it at least as well as my old four iron & certainly a bit farther, making hitting a hybrid into the wind less of a necessity.

May get a chance to take them to the course tomorrow, although 50 mph winds may intervene.

And they're lovely & shiny!

Only just had a look at them, and I must admit they do look quite nice for Wilsons. They've certainly tidied them up compared to the D300s anyway.
