I was down at the Wilson factory today for a gander and to get fitted for some fg tour v2's. Never been for one before, but anyone who's wondering if it's worth the bother-it definitely is.

I went in knowing what I wanted to achieve, which is something to think about if you ever go for one. I wanted a lower flight.
I thought my current old blades were too short, and waS correct. New shafts are plus 0.75 inches. I was right between shaftsand ended up with kbs tour, stiff, stepped down. Dispersion was 10 yards in the end,and flight was beautiful.

Also found out i need x stiff in my woods which really did surprise me.

Great experience

Sounds great, what was the place like? indoor/outdoor? Trackman? Did you buy some woods too?

It was indoor on a trackman type thing, honestly dunno what system.tried out about 7 different shafts until we were both happy.I was gripping too high up the club and it wasn't releasing properly,as a result of my current irons being to short.

Coulda gone with 2 or 3 shafts but the kbs stepped down gave the flight I need for links golf. We also discovered my hands were ever so slightly behind the ball which lead to a 5 yard fade or draw. Moved them forward an inch and every one went bang straight.

With the woods the best shaft for me is pretty much anything x stiff.he gave me a demo project x 6.5 driver which I tried out on the course tonight and it was unbelievable. The voodoo in my 909 is too soft for me leading to inconsistent fades and draws.with the px I hit a 5 yard draw all night.

Real eye opening stuff, particularly the tiny little things it picks up that are so easy to fix and make such a hugely difference

Won't be buying the woods just now,but will be reshafting my 909

Sounds a great experience, Wilson seem to be making decent strides in the golf mkt the last few years

Edit, if you need a 909 Hybrid in X Stiff give me a shout!

Did you get a MPH on your driver swing? I have a feeling I'm sitting in the same place.
I was very close to getting a set of WS FG62's before I bought my Pings. Wilson are making some very nice bladed irons atm.

Swing was 88 with the 6 iron. Wilson have always made good clubs, they just don't seem as fashionable as other brands. The fact you are in the factory where they are made was a big plus for me.got a wee tour and saw clubs being made for distribution all over Europe.
I was so tempted by the blades, but the fitter talked me out of it. The tour v2 plays very similar to a blade but you can really feel the forgiveness on the bad uns.

The only downside of the experience is that you can only do it once. I thought it was a pretty good reflection of my game, but after working before hand I was tired and the swing suffered a bit towards the end.would be better if you went for a set of 3 fittings imo. But as an amateur golfer I don't think it matters all that much.

Where is the factory?

Sounds like you had a great time. I am always amazed at how much info you get. You would never guess where it was. As you say Wilson appears not be fashionable but I believe they have won more majors than any other iron manufacturer. How long to wait ?

I would be taking that info with great caution. One brands X Stiff is anothers Stiff.

I'd be asking for what frequency range suits and or getting a proper fitting for woods.

I went for a fitting with Wilson but was dissapointed that they didn't bring the FG62 as it wasn't carried in their cart. They wanted me to get the FG V2's. The trackman showed that the smash factor on my current irons is 1.19 because I have the S100's as my shaft. They tried me with the Rifle 7.0's and my smash went up to 1.32. This was the best info I got on the day. Now I want Riflee 7.0's!!!! I was miffed that they didn't have the FG62's though as I specifically asked to have a go with them! Now how do I get those new shafts in my Mizzys?

I am really liking the look of the current Wilson Staff line up. Do not think that I would be able to hit the FG Tours however much I would love to be able to but the Ci 11s look damn fine to me and I may be able to use them. The Cleveland CG16s never really worked for me and my old Cobra irons are back in the bag so a bit of ebay work and a replacement could be on the horizon. Do Wilson have fitting centres anywhere else?
