The problem I have is that few Pro shops stock Wilson. I need a resupply of PX3 balls but nobody near me stocks anything except Srixon or Titleist. Have to go to AG or buy online.

I've been using Wilson Fi5's now for the last 3 years hated them at 1st and hated Wilson's customer service after the 4 iron shaft snapped on the 3rd time of using it when just hitting shots off the fairway, thankfully the retailer resolved the issue( they also claimed Wilson were terrible to deal with and have since stopped selling Wilson clubs.) However I now couldn't fault the irons for performance and I'm going to be very reluctant to change them.

Incidentally I bought Wilson Staff clubs because of the reputation they had in the past.

I have to say when I got my Fat Shafts all those years ago I bought them partly because of Wilsons reputation as a decent clubmkaer going back to the 80's and beyond. They never let me down and I only really changed when club design and shafts had moved on and got myself a set of X14's which lasted me for years (until last Summer).

I have to agree that apart from AG there isn't many Wilson stockists around my parts. That said AG do seem to be pushing the Wilson brand quite hard this year (even before Harringtons major successes) and all the irons from improver to low handicapper do look good quality gear

Totally agree with the post that Wilson should capitalise on the publicity they are getting at the moment. They def missed out last year - surely they won't make the same mistake twice?

But, something I found interesting (from reading a 'whats in the bag' of Padraig just before The Open) is that what was described as the shot of the tournament, the 3 wood onto the 15th on the final day, was a TaylorMade Burner 3 wood... I have seen some stories of it being a 5 wood, and photos of him holding a Fybrid 5 wood and the claret jug. Can't see any images of the shot to know which is right though...

May I remind everyone its WilsonStaff who are Harringtons club manufacturer & not Wilson. They essentially maybe the same company, but the Wilson part of the company is the budget end & WilsonStaff the quality end of the company. They are essentially run as two seperate concerns eventhough.

Article in one of this mornings Irish papers, interview with agents and with Wilson-- Wilson appear to recognise Harrington is essential to their business and they appear willing to up the contract which currently runs at €500,000 per annum to €2m-lets see what develops.
Cernunnos Harrington used 5 wood on 17 to set up the eagle but hit 3 wood on 15 to set up a 2 putt birdie.

It's unbelievable

"To mark the shot of The Open on the 17th hole at Royal Birkdale....Wilson Staff (is) to offer five lucky readers Padraig Harrington’s FYbrid 5-wood – the club he used sensationally to hit the ball 272 yards to the green and secure an eagle and a four-shot winning lead."

272 yards.... :) I need to lie down...RG heads for the beer fridge.

Links courses make this easily possible. My pal drove the ball 340yds on the 18th at Royal Dornoch in late May, we had to measure it it was that long. Anyway he's normally a 250/260 man like me but with a tailwind and a hard fairway and one out of the screws it went miles.
