Wild Card Picks - who would you choose?

Harrington and Poulter makes sense to me.

Incidently I am of the opinion that all players should be picked by the captain. You wouldn't force the england cricket team to pick the top 11 in the averages.

No you wouldn't, but then there are specialist positions in a cricket team whereas there aren't in a golf team - they're all performing the same function. You're comparing apples with pears.

Poulter and Colsaerts for me.

I agree they're not the same thing, however the gist of my argument is that the captain should have exactly the team he wants, not the one forced upon him.

Ok, I get that, but if you take it down to the bear bones, it's not really forced on him, is it? He knew the system before he took the job. If he didn't like it, he wasn't obliged to accept it.

As it is, I don't agree that a captain should get who he wants. If that was the case, you'd have the possibility of a captain excluding guys who deserve to get in on form in favour of someone they prefer, for whatever reason. Imagine a guy having a great year and finishing in the Top 10 then being left out because the captain would rather take someone who finished 44th. Hardly fair on the guy who's in the Top 10.

I don't think it's fair for a player to have his chance taken from him if he does enough to qualify by right.

Monty got it changed so he had more picks.

Jose Maria decided he didn't need more picks and reverted back to 2 wild cards. It rewards players for good solid play throughout the season and for me it has worked well.

Poulter for definite, not sure on the last spot though. Definatly colsearts if he doesn't automatically qualify. Really kaymer shouldn't be automatically in after a substandard season and hrs not the strongest matchplay guy there.

Thing is though. If Kaymer qualifies then he deserves to play or does it show that Mr Ryder Cup Monty was correct in asking for additional picks?

Think Kaymer may just get it together in time! (I hope!!!)

He needs to - current form is shocking.........
Since the Masters (44th) he's finished T7, T15, T17, T15, T15, MC, 70, T29, MC, T29, MC - not exactly sparkling is it?

We know he's a good player, he's just got to get his head right.

Colsearts is 5 shots off an automatic spot - that's going to be hard to pull back.

So Poulter (who in their right mind wouldn't pick him?) and Colsearts, as I don't think he'll pick up enough shots to finish 1st or 2nd.

A wee birdie told me that Kaymer might drop out.
So that may be 3 picks.

I have been a fan of Colesarts for 12 years so I would love to see him in.
Poulter is obvious.
As has been said on here the other day, Kaymers agent has been quoted in the press this week as saying; martins looking forward to the Ryder Cup and can't wait to be involved.

I'd say that's his confirmation if he squeeks in he'll be playing.

I to would love see Colsaerts play though his long game coupled with Donalds or Sergios iron play would be superb for foursomes.

So with Colsearts not making it, that leaves the way clear for 2, virtually shoe-in, picks - Poulter and Colsearts.

Kaymer has qualified - just have to see now whether he will play or not.

My money's on him playing and actually doing well - just got a feeling.
