Def think Padraig is a good shout, Sergio...not this year, I cant remember him figuring in anything bar 1 tournament this year (there might be more but he's not been on the radar)

Because of his Ryder cup record 14 wins, 6 losses, 4 halves.

Impressive record no doubt, but if that is all you are basing it on you'd pick Monty.....

Sergio pre 2008 was a very different animal to this Sergio. He's playing okay, but lacks the conviction to perform under pressure. Would you really want a player in your team who 6 months ago said he didn't believe he was good enough to win a major?

How is Kaymer in the top 10 given his form over the last 6 months?

I'd take a gutsy Sergio over Porridge all day long. Porridge is just as bad with the flat stick and Sergio is a good/better partner. Infectious enthusiasm and crowd pleaser.

Oh, it pains me.......... Paul Lawrie...... (and Poulter as he's found some form). Just think that Lawrie has the fighting spirit and on his day can chip and putt with the best (great for matchplay).

Firstly Kaymer is there mostly due to the fact that he won the WGC event towards the end of last year. Sergio has shown signs of improvement this year, he is only one place outside automatic qualifying, Colin Montgomery on the other hand is 167th on the World points list.

Lawrie doesn't need the pick he is currently 4th on Euro list and 8th on world list, practically guaranteed place.

As it stand currently, Colsaerts would be a definite for me followed by Sergio as a strong maybe. Padraig is finding form but I'd say its too soon to pitch him in. Sergio has had a better year too, and would provide more buzz. If you just look at this summer Colsaerts gets in no bother.

Sergio is in. Ollie more or less stated that last week. Ollie wont pick Harrington again we more or less stated that leas week when he stated Harrington needed to do something extraordinary in the PGA to merit a pick.

There is only one vacancy and i would not be surprised if two spaniards were picked.

Colsaerts needs to play, he's on form and the course is a long one so will suit his big hitting. Second pick could be anyone, maybe Sergio but I'm not convinced he's all there mentally at the moment. Francesco Mol is a good bet as is Jimenez, but they're not the most powerful hitters. So I would go Colsaerts and Molinari, but obviously if Poulter didn't make the automatic place, he would HAVE to play.

Think the americans are much stronger than Europe at the moment.

Davis Love gets to pick 4 out of Mahan, Stricker, Furyk, Fowler, Snedeker, Van Pelt & Johnson and apart from Rory lot's of Europes big players are out of form (Westwood & Kaymer spring to mind)

Haven't heard anything of Mahan, Johnson and Fowler for a while now. Stricker only did well for a week at the John Deere and Snedeker only had that little run at the Open. Nothing really threatening there is there?

Agree. Stricker will get in certainly as Tiger will need a partner.........

Mahan, Johnson & Fowler have all won this year. Snedeker contended at the Open and Furyk has been playing very well of late.

Harrington is in okay form but does he have that killer instinct that won him three majors?

I'm not so sure.

The fact that Ollie doesn't have to make the picks untill the Monday could be very significant. Points from the Barclays in the US will not count towards the Ryder cup but a very strong tournament for Padraig could make it difficult for Ollie not to pick him. I would be disappointed if he chose a 2nd Spaniard over Colsaerts. I think his only justification for this would be if either Cabrera-Bello or Fernandez-Castano were to win at Gleneagles.
