....that every time there is a thread about powered trollies, the GK brigade immediately come on and sing the virtues of their bit of plastic, and then go on to mention the problems they have had and what wonderful service they have had from the suppliers in resolving said problems.

Some may recall I did a small poll asking GK purchasers if they had had a problem with their purchase. OK, I accept that the poll wasn't exactly under controlled conditions and the sample taken was small, but over 1/3rd of respondants reported problems.

Fair do's to GK for providing such good after sales service to such a large %age of problems. Some other manufacturers may have similar quality control problems but not the same service but what in what other industry could such poor quality control be tolerated?

Well said leftie.

I too have noticed this, and even as a problem-free gokart owner I find it annoying.

If someone comes on and says "what do you think of the new hillbilly terrain?" I find that a reply of "what you want is a gokart" to be non-constructive.

Their service is excellent, without doubt, and I may well buy another one very soon.

However to rubbish other products based on this is wrong.

Surely it is better to have bought something and never had to test the customer service, i.e it has never failed, than own something that has had various difficulties and been in for repair?

I have to say though it isn't just GK that seem to have problems and there are plenty of posts on here from Powakaddy and Motocaddy owners that have had problems with batteries etc and have had trouble getting any level of customer service to rectify the fault.

I don't get this concern of what the GK looks like and the fact that it is made from plastic. It does what a decent trolley shoudl do. It is compact and fits easily into a Fiesta boot with ease, clips together in less than a minute and takes a full trolley bag around 18 (and even 36) with consumate ease. If it does go wrong then GK sort it out superbly.

I think if you carried out a more incisive poll you'd find that most manufacturers suffer failures and it is just that the GK users are able to get the problem sorted so easily that it is highlighted.

But Leftie isn't referring to that situation John.

He's just lighting the blue touch paper and retiring
;)

It's a bit like explaining that it is ok to have an ugly girl friend because she gives good ?

She's still ugly.

And in this case, plastic. Like a plastic pig, but more unreliable.

That said, my Hillbilly has not exactly been the best buy of my life.

In the trolley test in this month's mag they mention that the only thing they can't test is reliability.

Surely somehow a few trolleys can be loaned out for a year or 2 and then we can see the best and worst. Have updates in the mag every quarter.

It strikes me as quite strange that none of the mags have done this. How do we know which is the best/worst/most average if there's been no testing.

As regards the Go-Kart v the rest debate -

"A trolley is only as good as its Customer back-up" is a notion I keep hearing.

To me the best trolley has a Customer Service dept that you don't even know the number of.

So its plastic. Big deal. What difference does that make other than nothing will rust. It is designed to carry the bag about so as long at it does that why worry about looks. Very strange.

Ok, it does the job.

But, why spend money on a slinky set of clubs, a slinky tour bag, a decent(?) outfit, smart shoes, and then choose an ugly trolley? Doesn't make sense.

When choosing my trolly I noticed these 'great customer care' posts and thought - no thanks, you should never be in a position to try them out, and certainly not that many times so I decided to look at the Powerkaddy and Motocaddy stuff. Not a single complaint from teh motocaddy lads and several gearox problems from teh Powerkaddy lot. But I was told 'good customer service tho' and I walked away.

Several years later I have a Motocaddy S3 and I am more than happy with it.

It seems to me that Homer is on 1st name terms with the after ssles team at GK. I have had PK now for 7 years and have never ever had to make a call.
To call the GK a plastic pig is an insult to pigs.
I have only ever seen one of these monsters around my course, so they must be real popular.

If you want to best trolley, drive a Powakaddy...........

easy that, just buy a trolley from a chinese website, then see where it gets you.

My Powerbug is an english clone of Motocaddy, same electronics, heavy, clunky frame - anyone know the name of an agent that it's not going to cost me a fortune to send it to?
