Good news - I had a bit more time today, found a spacer that I needed and got the job finished. The new radiator is up and working fine!

Being loaded as you are :mmm: .... you should have british gas annual cover..... they'd have replaced the radiator for you for free, well maybe a £60 excess but a lot of hassle saved.
