Ok, so I've just scanned a couple of pages of the forum. The moans are:

Rules and their application
R&A
DMDs
SSS/ CSS
Slow play
Ball marking!!!!????

There are pages and pages more of continual (often repeated) moans

So, as there are so many things within the game that many do not like - why bother?

Im puzzled at how many little things get on peoples nerves. There does seem to be quite a few moans knocking around on here at moment, Sharapova would be proud

I wouldn't say I am a serial moaner but will sometimes post...

I bother because I love the game... simply that! My missus used to laugh but now rolls her eyes... We were out in the countryside at the top of a romantic castle and she asked what I thought of the view... I said "you could easily shape a few courses around this"

She genuinely thinks Golf is on the brain every minute with me!

But genuinely... I guess its just easier to moan! I am all for the PB / round of my life threads but I would prefer to see a gripe above a "How do you tie your shoe laces" or "How many blinks before you hit the ball" thread.

But do you really love 'the game' or do you love what your ideal of 'the game' should be? Which would not be golf

Dislikes: Playing off 3/4 (but it doesn't stop me)

Likes: this is the most amazing game ever invented, I love it. I spend my spare evenings at the range, my weekends revolve around golf
The most frustrating & rewarding game that'll give you just enough back from everything you put in...just to make you come back again for another taste

Its because I have so much invested in this game (& I don't simply mean financially) that I like to discuss the finer details of the aspects that both appeal to me and those that irk me

Could easily be construed as 'Moaning about moaners'!:D

these are things people care about. And it's every Brit' right - if not obligation - to moan! :smirk:

Very philosophical!

I would rather read a moan from someone on an interesting subject than sift through some of the utterly turgid posts that are full of the joys of spring.

E.g. What do you have in your pockets when you play golf? Surely the most banal and worthless question of the month?! I really wanted to reply to this and in attempt to liven it up, say that I carried a red PVC dildo on the front 9 and a vial of desiccated human adrenal gland on the back 9 but didn't as I thought it might earn me another infraction. Not sure if dildo is a banned term on the forum though????

im glad to say i did not post on any of those threads, i think people just enjoy moaning, makes them feel better about themselves

agree with snelly on most banal post of the month and wanted to reply in a similar fashion, a 9 inch machete and a syringe full of narcotics - i enjoyed that moan

Moanings human nature mate, some just vent it in words and then just look
for peoples opinions.
Or they look for conformation off others they have been right to have a moan.
Like my thread about 2s,i was looking for conformation I was right to moan.
Please don't tell me you've had a 5 hour round and didnt moan.

Genuinely, no I haven't.

I play at a place it just does not happen and if I am playing abroad or in a pro am or something that may take that long, I'm prepared for it before starting.
If I did come up against it, I'd rather do something about it rather than moan - ask to play thru or walk in.

Being outside playing a fantastic game that is so difficult and forever changing is far too good a thing to moan about IMO.

Guess its just me, but I dislike moaning.
