Why do so many threads get deleted?

It's like the marie-celeste here? I popped back to look at a discussion I took part in earlier in the week and it's gone! It was a friendly thread, discussing someone struggling to play 18 holes as well as they play 9.. Happens a lot here, stuff just disappears!

Only a guess, but under "general settings", what have you got the circled one set to?

Yip, was set to Forum default, which I guess is one week.
