So I'm approaching the 1st anniversary of picking up my first clubs and am still stuck at 28hc, having only hit 99 once on a par 70. 6 months in I had one lesson and really improved with my shirt irons and wedges. I'm quite confident 140 in. But having lost 11 balls right of the tee and hitting 107 I decided enough was enough and booked up. £25 and 30 minutes later and I at least now what I'm doing wrong and have a plan of attack. Played 9 holed straight after and hit all 6 fairways. Obviously things will go wrong on occasion but I can see the light!!

I ask myself the same thing. Saturday 94 gross & 45 putts then one lesson 5 days and some practice later 78 gross and 32 putts.

Glad to see its not just me then!! I've been having a few problems with my game lately too. I've been playing a year and only managed to break 100 twice and I'm still at a 28hc.

Booked a lesson and had it yesterday and instantly it sorted me out, well slightly! Went out today and tried not to worry about my score. I just wanted to practice what I'd been taught. My driving was a little better and although I still had a few bad iron shots creeping into my game it was good to know that when I hit a good shot it was cause I was doing what I'd been taught. I was given a new grip and its really stopped my shots from going off to the right every time. And my confidence was growing with every hole I played.

What was your swing fault then? Over the top swing/weight transfer etc
By all accounts the swing is not to bad, I just wasn't rotating my right wrist through impact and was therefor slicing due to open club face. Should me one thing to fix it and I cottoned on ok. Have a Pre **** routine now that reminds me what to do. Not as bad as Keegan Bradley so hopefully tell stick.

If that is what your Pro has told you then give a go for a while. If it gets worse or no better then se the Pro again or someone different

Yep open club face = Slice. Just what is causing your Right wrist not to rotate that's all. I have just tried it and cannot not do it. Just wondered what the cause was

I had the same problem last year the cause for me was a weak grip and i dropped my head on backswing making me stand up on the down swing not to hit the ground opening the club face more

Makes sense really. Weak grip is a sign of a slicer. I tend to drop my head too much in the downswing sometimes which causes all manner of problems. Did you eliminate all your faults then? and have you now good a good neutral grip or even a strong one?

If you want to improve your shirt irons my wife can definitely coach you :)
I'll get my coat.

ye got maybe 3 lessons 60 euro total and now have a slight natural draw. have a good natural grip now took a few months off due to exams and came back with a strong grip but fixed it after a couple rounds. really happy almost never on the other fairways which was practically every hole (very demoralizing).

I dropped my head to give me the feeling of the club being higher than it was so i thought i was at the top of my backswing
