First at my course is a killer 440 yard par 4 which on any given day most of my group would be over the moon with a par on.

So on Wednesday I roll up with two mates and enter the midweek comp after work. Beautiful evening glad to be out. Nail the drive to two paces short of the 150 stone, bang in the middle of the fairway. Hit an 8 iron sweet as a nut to 8 feet, leave the putt 8 inches short for a tap in par. Any day of the week I should be over the moon (it's the first time I've parred it this year) - so why do I feel annoyed that I left the birdie putt short? :p

Do others feel the same?

(Incidentally I shot an 88 for net 3 over...)

Canfordhacker, the reason you are beating yourself up over a missed putt is down to your competitive nature and the fact you left it short.

Leaving a makeable birdie putt short feels worse than missing a par putt.

Keep the faith and you will bag the birdie on the monster 1st.
