Our Winter Alliance has a team competition scheduled for 2nd November. A directive has been issued, stating that the Handicap Index of players must be notified in advance or they cannot play. Does that seem reasonable or even possible?

Does it really matter for a team competition the day after the system is introduced. It seems a bit excessive, especially given the individual Alliance competitions are not treated as qualifying for handicap purposes.

Well all CONGU handicaps will have disappeared into the ether. The only one around will be the WHS Index, whether it's right or wrong.
But as the closure of CONGU is scheduled for 20.15 on the 1st and there is no earlier update to the error riddled run last week planned, there will great difficulty in notifying anyone in advance.

The organisers need to get their heads around the new system. Nobody can know their Handicap Index in advance that will apply on a particular day if they have played in a comp the in the days after giving such notification.

It is now the reason cards for competition cannot show HI unless they are prepared sometime after midnight on the day of the comp.
