Yup.

Mostly modern warfare 2, gran turismo and black ops mostly.

I'm addicted to Joe danger at the minute though.

Psn Id is the same as it is here.

Yup.
Had mine since 2007.
Only game I ever play online is GT5 and then I'm crap at it.
Prefer the 360 for online play, the PS3 was my main Blu Ray player until I bought my LG system.
The PS3 hardly gets turned on nowadays.

Play online with:

Red Dead Redemption
Pro Evo 2011
TW10
NFS: Shift

The PS3 is frikkin' awesome and if you could only organise your files more sensibly and have a proper media player function, it would be even more awesomes.

Do you use the Media Server function?

That does the job for me. Streams files from my Laptop (which is always on) rather nicely and as the files are organised on the laptop, it shows the folder structure on the PS3. Happy days!

But I agree. It's the dogs danglies.

No, because I neither want nor like the PC being on all the time. This is a bit of a bugbear for me! I suppose I'll have to get round to fitting a NAS drive at some point and deal with it from that. It just seems so stupid to have such limited file management functionality.

And as for not being able to play non-R2 DVDs...why don't companies understand that they will make MORE money with region-free devices than less?

I'd much rather not have to explore the Homebrew route and would even pay for the region-free option, but it will have to be the naughty choice in the end, especially as I fail to see how ripping all your DVDs to disc to remove region encoding is any sort of solution at all!

I stream from a Buffalo linkstation live, or at least I did until it died. I'm going to replace it with a Qnap 2 drive enclosure as it already has Twonkymedia preinstalled as part of its OS. The buffalo never really worked properly, which was annoying. However, running the PC when I have folk over and streaming through the PS3 works really very well.

Also, my PSN tag is Paulyecosse

It's annoying, but there are legal reasons behind it due to when DVDs are placed on general release around the world.

But yes, I would also pay for the privilege as my old DVD player died and I have ALOT of R1 DVDs that I can't currently watch.

The other alternative is to buy a cheap DVD player and region hack it, if you have the space. You can get really small/slim ones that are region-hackable and even come with upscalers; a far cry from my 10 year old Phillips that was as big as my old VHS player! (I do miss it though :()

I already have a multi-region DVD player but I'd like that to go upstairs and frankly for a device that sells itself as a media hub (PS3), surely the point is you have less boxes not more?

The legal argument is guff though. It has been shown time and again that if studios want to release something in stages around the world, they will just get the 1st release torrented and thereby lose most of the revenue from the other regions. Why do you think pircay is so rife in the Far East when they are usually late in the release schedule?

Release films and DVDs/Blu-rays at the same time and avoid all the issues. It's a global economy after all. I can buy a multi-region player, I can import films but yet there remains an archaic legal cobblepot that tells me 'this disc is released today for these people but in 3 months for you and that's why we have to knacker the PS3 from being a proper media centre'. It's just nuts.

Release the regions and make more money - it's bloomin' simple! Failing that, just give us a hack that lets us remove the region coding! Don't mind about Blu-rays, but I do object to my R1/3/4 collection being unavailable for use on my PS3.

I totally get what you're saying and agree with it all! The good news is, if the region "ban" is ever lifted, Sony will just release an update which will update the Blu-Ray firmware, so it should be easy enough to upgrade. I hope it happens at some point.

No need to region hack a cheap player, Asda do a decent enough multi region DVD player for £14.95. Bought one the other week when my one went wrong and does the job fine.

As for the PS3, never got on with the Dualshock controller so stick with my Xbox 360. Do not play online much but am interested in the connectivity of the new Need for Speed game that I am playing at the moment and I enter the odd TW11 tournament.

Not much fear of that happening any time soon unless you've heard something that I haven't?

Agree that a FW update will probably sort it (and it will be nice for an update to actually 'do' something positive for a change...) but I fear we live in a fantasy world of this happening in the next few years.

I've got a PS3 Played a bit of TW11, but only once played it online, against Midnight, which was fun, but sad there wasn't any in-game TXT-chat option or such like. I've got GT5, but have yet to get "into" it. Also got Unchartered 2, which I believe has an online option. Going to get Assassin's Creed Brotherhood very soon which also has online options. Otherwise that's about it.

I'm ashamed to admit I spend most of my PS3-time in "Playstation Home", Bowling or playing Pool and chatting to a bunch of weirdos!!

Uncharted 2 is superb and along with Arkham Asylum, one of the best games on the system.

I found the online bit for Uncharted 2 never connected for me, but the single player is so much fun, I can't imagine the multiplayer could be any better.

X-game chat is a major gripe with the PS3 and Sony appear to keep pretending it's not an issue, so I'm afraid you'll have to live without chitter-chatter for a while!

Frankly, I'd rather they made great single-player games than bothered with multiplayer stuff (sports games aside) as it always seems a bit futile. I mean, what's the point of online CoD when you've got different lag rates, connection rates, honesty levels etc.?

God, I'm sounding like a teenage geek today...
