Hadn't realised that. I'm on Octopus and can vary the amount at will on their site.

Up until the the last drop in the rates with OVO I could only increase the DD not reduce it.

EDF let you increase or decrease. But if you opt to decrease you are presented with a warning that paying less could result in debt and the issues this brings.

What was nice with the last price drop I got an email from OVO advising me to reduce my direct debit. They had changed so the amount could be reduced.
Sadly up until recently they paid interest on credit balances that was equivalent to leaving the money in a building society high interest account but now have stopped doing so.
