HomerJSimpson
Hall of Famer
Thing is toonarmy we all have experienced huge waits before playing our next shot. It has happened to me in a major open where I had nearly 15 minutes to wait on a par 3 (some joker kept hitting into the water several groups in front). I was homing in on a win but I didn't add adrenalin into my equation.
In my view as a professional sportsman with access to the greatest sports coaches and psychologists he just didn't react well under the pressure. I have heard it said by several top coaches on Sky etc that the swing actually looked "tired" in that he was a spent force physically and mentally. With 8 order of merits and numerous worldwide titles it isn't as if he didn't know how to close the deal.
I agree he hit it into probably the worst place possible but the way he played from there showed his scrambled thinking.
Like I say, in my opinion a true champion, that is to say a major winner, has the clarity of thought and control of his game to perform under that extremity of pressure
