Greetin that Sir Colin should not have been inducted into the Hall of Fame because he hasn't captured a Major.

Monty was a fantastic golfer and his Ryder Cup record speaks for itself as does the fact he won 8 European Order of Merits in a row....done when the Tour was as good as it has ever been. That will never happen again on either tour, ever.

What little respect I had for Jacklin has disappeared as far as Jacklin's head is up his own jinker.

Same goes for Ray Floyd who also had a dig - said you should have one Major to qualify, ridiculous.

On that logic you win one Major in your first season and then do nothing else but can qualify for the Hall of fame? surely its for those who are famous for their golfing achievements and what they have done for the world of golf in general, the records books contain details of the relevant major winners

yup, definitely deserves it.

I believe an American golf commentator is also inducted this year, absolutely nothing to do with Majors

Initially I agreed with Jacklin's comments but on reflection I think that for his RC legacy alone Monty deserves his place. Runner up in 7 (I think) majors and so many order of merits proves that Monty. Lets face it, Ken Schofield has never won a major either but would anyone begrudge his spot for what he has done to promote the Europran tour and the gam in general onto a global stage

I agree with Jacklin there shouldnt be a place in the HOF for non major winners.

I agree with this sentiment, Monty epic European tour record, Ryder cup legend but no major winner. But I also think simply winning a major shouldn't be enough on its own there should be a minimum number of tour wins to go with it etc.

Then again I think a HOF is a naff thing it's a massively American thing to just celebrate any who they can fawn over for the sake of saying well he's a hall of famer! Would we think any less of the careers of Woods, Nicklaus, Palmer, Player, Hogan, Faldo, Els etc if there was no hall of fame like in English football! No we'd simply say like we do about Pele, Maradona, Moore, Charlton etc that they are simply the greats of the game and legends in their own right

All a hall of fame does is lump records like Montys et al in with the true greats rather than separating them. I have nothing against Monty at all I'm actually one of the few who like him but think he's done superb for European golf and should be honoured by the European tour but not the US based HOF!

The World HOF is an irrelevance. To begin with, they had a load of indisputably great players to put in, but as time has moved on, not so much, so disputes over whether Monty should be included or whether Chi Chi Rodriguez belongs start up. It is basically a tourist attraction for Americans, so it is best just to treat it as such and ignore any rational analysis of who should or shouldn't belong.

To be fair, though, I doubt they will be inducting Shaun Micheel or Rich Beem anytime soon.

As they've averaged 5 inductees a year since 2005, they would run out of major winners anyway!

Happy to have Monty in it. In fact, would be happy to have him stay there!:D

And should Vijay, certainly a Major winner, be there?
