Just wondering how everyone has got on this year. I remember back in April reading the targets that people had set themself for the upcoming season. My main target was to recover from my shoulder injury and get palying well again and getting my handicap back down. I have managed to get playing well again, but unfortunately not been able to get into any medals so my handicap has not changed. MY mate set himself a target of getting down to 18 from 25. He did not get to 18 before the end of the season but got to an even more impressive 14.8 whilst managing to pick up both the club doubles and singles knock out trophies. So how did you perform against the targets you set yourself?

didnt reach my PYB goals but ended the season with playing to my exact handicap at October Medal- in fact have you ever had a round where you impressed even yourself with ball striking? shame the seasons over but bodes well for 2013 if I can keep this new swing going.

My aim was to get to single figures again failed miserably and ended up going up rather than down, so bit disappointing there.
It's been a stop start year with weather conditions not helping in the slightest, failing to beat my handicap in a comp has been frustrating, although I did beat CSS by one and pick up a 2nd nett prize.
Got to play 2 new fantastic courses Birkdale and Hillside with Fulford to come.
So although a bit disappointing handicap wise an average year on the whole.

The season's a long way from being over!
It is in my opinion. The crappy weather is coming in, not enough light at night to play many holes, moving to winter tees and maybe the odd day on temporary greens. No more comps to enter now either. I see it is now time to get into the winter league and get practising ready for next year.

Aims were to get to 8 & consolidate that , then have a look at geting to 7 , lowest handicap ever achieved of 7.3 (Now 7.4) .. so i have achieved my main aim ..

I wanted to win a comp (done) & more importantly win a few of the gross prizes to prove to myself i could compete with the best golfers in our place off scratch . , have managed that a few times .. happy days

Failed in making the club championships & in breaking par in a comp .. shot level par tho , was -3 thru 15 , doubled 16 index 1 & bogeyed the last .. sooooo frustrating ..

Bout 3 qualifiers left i think , to get to 6 would be beyond my wildest expectations , but if i could finish on 7 , it would be job well done ..

I started the year off of 5.2. I am currently 5.1! My tagret (I think) was to get back to three. Cutting 40% odd from your handicap would have been a big ask. Had problems with fitness (back first and then shoulder more recently), which haven't helped.

Also, watching tour pros is bad for my golf as they just 'kill it'. Whilst I can send it out there, I cannot 'kill it' and lose any rythm and timing as a result.

So a bit of a failiure I guess, although the seasons not over and in the likely event of not reaching my goal, there shall be a resulting 'rollover' and not a 'loss'.

Up until a month or so ago, my season has been rubbish. I've put in some terrible scores and played some terrible golf. Right now I'm playing as well as I can remember so am confident of getting my h'cap back to single figures before the year is out (weather permitting).

My target this years was to stay in SF but having risen up to 10.5 from 9.3 I'm now back to 9.7 so my revised target is getting back to where I started.

Next year I'm going for a bit more of an aggressive target which is to get to 7.something, it doesn't have to be sub 7.5, just 7.something.

This is the first year I've not really set myself a target to improve and I wonder if I got a bit lazy

Back in Jan the goal was to get to single figures. But after all the swing changes in about March\April I revised my goal to not ending up with a 14hcp.

Played pretty crap all year but started to pull things together in Aug\Sept and got a small and a massive cut ending up with 11hcp, lowest I've been so far. Got a .1 back a few weeks ago though :-(

I can't play in any more qualifiers now so looks like 11.1 is where I'm going to finish.

Not where I set my sights at the beginning of the year, but actually over the moon with where I finished considering I came close to quitting.

Haven't played much in the last month or so but 2012 was OK. A win in a monthly medal and a couple of top threes. Handicap went from 13 to 9 but gone back out to 10(10.1). Had a sixth place in both the gross and handicap section of the club champs which is my best show by a long chalk and if the first round had been several shots better then another top 3 was there for the taking.

I've had a good year with my teaching pro and enjoying the one plane swing I'm learning. Ball striking is a whole lot better than I can remember it and I've actually been able to give Hawkeye some support as his playing partner this season as opposed to being a passenger.

On the downside we were poor in our Volvo 2nd round and haven't ham and egged in any pairs events this year with one or other not playing on the day but that is the way it goes and we win and lose as a team. As we've both come down it has made it a lot harder to be competitive without an A game or B+ at the very least. On a personal level the short game is still holding me back and is something I plan to aggressively attack next season and find a way to banish the gremlins once and for all

Couple of medal wins and come down from 13.something to 11.6.

Highlight of the year was a +5 gross and +4 gross in the same week. Current form was promising to get to 11, but a case if the shermans today looks like that is right out the window!

From my first round of 116 at my new club at the end of March, I managed to get my personal best down to 90 in August. I'm quite happy with a 25 shot drop to be fair :) Oh and I managed to win a monthly stableford which I was chuffed with too.

Great? nah!
very good?
oh yes!

Apart from the rain (which does now seem to have stopped)
I have:
won 3 major prizes in greensome opens
played some great courses including Carnoustie, turnberry, Archerfield, Crail,
won 4 comps at my own club - so more silverware on the way to my mantlepiece
Got a new swing, then lost it, then found it again
Played loads of different formats - medals, stableford, tex scrambles and tex mex, greensomes, foursomes - everything but a flag comp or a 3 club comp
got the hcap down a touch
Bought some new golf toys

and met and played golf with some lovely boys and girls! (some of you lovely lot are on here and know who you are!)

Roll on winter golf! ;)

I have had a great season... I have enjoyed playing and practising every time I have been able to. I truly love this game..

I havent been able to get down to 18 from 23 which was what I had in mind when I first got my handicap. Failed miserably in the last monthly medal yesterday as I think I was putting too much pressure on to get a cut but have one more midweek to try and relax a bit more and hopefully get cut.

On the plus side I've really enjoyed my first proper seasons golf, have shot 89 twice in comps getting me a 1st and 2nd place and am in the final of the knockout for over 18 handicappers so not all bad:)

Not the best ever, first season without a golf club. The plan back in March was to have fun and enjoy golf

Ticked that off with ease, then managed three things that really added to it:

1. 8 birdies over a period of 72 holes, pretty good going for a nomadic golfer!
2. Shot mid 80s scores at the two best clubs I have played this year, decent going again.
3. Crowned club champion of my driving range :D

Overall it would have been MILES better if I had been a member of a club, even if I had won nothing.

Consolidating the 5 handicap was the target and although I'm teetering on the edge of 6 I feel I have enough form to stay at 5 for another Winter in the 2 or 3 qualifiers I still have available.
Found Golf a struggle this year up until late Summer when the Swing came back from holiday and have been generally playing decently since.

The Primary Target is always met - enjoying golf regardless of score..

Erm, yeah...it's been fairly good:

Handicap has dropped from 21 to 10
Won 2 Singles comps
Won 1 Pairs comp
Semi final of club matchplay
Represented club in county competition
3 or 4 Top 5's in club comps

Next years target is single figures...and stay there!
