Who has had a great season then?

Handicap aim for the year was to get to 22. Not quite there yet but two stablefords over the weekend should give me a chance to achieve that. Ive also been told on good authority that I will probaly be getting a cut in the handicap review so that might take me to my handicap target. The other was to win a trophy which I did in the club Champs with the best gross score for 20.5 handicaps and over. All in all not a bad season. Next years aim is get my handicap to 17.

This has been my first season playing golf, only took up playing in feb. I have had great fun learning the game and going from doing the driving range to playing the 6 hole course at my club. I haqve progressed to the 9 hole course and in november i hope to the the main course for the first time. I managed to par my first two holes both par 3's in laate sept on the 6 hole course. I hope to look at getting an official handicapnext year.

I can't believe how fast this year has gone. To think the season is nearly over!!

Looking back, I've had a great season. Target was to get from 20 to 16 and I achieved that within weeks. Probably too quickly in hindsight. Since then I've had a few good rounds but more recently it's been a monotonous and frustrating run of poor form which has detracted from my enjoyment. Decided to take a break and that's worked wonders. Got a 0.6 cut yesterday and with 2 qualifiers left the worst that can happen is to end up on 15.1. Very happy with that but also keen to see if I can get a wee bit more shaved off before the winter.

I've also played a lot of new courses, been on my first forum meet at Woodhall Spa (I'm just about dried out!), made lots of new golfing friends and I'm already looking forward to next season!!

nearly...no no no - the season is over! i played my last medal on saturday. all i have to look forward to now is...hmmmm Archerfield Dirleton on Friday, Arbroath tex scramble on Sunday, golf in spain in 3 weeks time and a winter of links golf

bring it on! ;)

Started full of optimism and for the first couple of months things went well, a couple of cuts and mostly buffers, but then got stuck in a run of poor form. Just couldn't put a good round together, one week driving let me down, another short game, another putting, total frustration and now I'm almost back to where I started from as shown in my signature below.

On the plus side I won our Mens Invitation partnering my brother and have been on several excellent Forum Meets with the H4H at Blackmoor only a week away!

Will have to say my season overall is good to very good.My target was to get from 25 to 22.Failed in that and realized mid summer would be unlikely to make it.Decided then would be happy to get down to 24,especially after 6 0.1 increases in a row.At end of season I have made it down to 24.
Season started well in winning Midweek Medal, got even better by getting 1st ever hole in one in a comp (profiting £130 into the bargain ) then a bad run of comps for 3 months. Then ending up winning my 1st OPEN and hitting a PB of 88 (9 under) and getting cut to 24.So it ended up great.

I started the season by recovering from my second hip replacement operation which was mid way through our winter league. My partner and I eventually won the final in May and was lucky that my recuperation coincided with several weeks of course closure. I also won 2 monthly medals and two major prizes in our golf week.

I also found a new Pro a few weeks ago, who seems to have found the way to put the different elements of the golf swing, that I have done before and to string them in a way that produces the best swing that I have ever had. I am satisfied to finish the season only .1 more than last year as many of my wins were (sadly) non qualifying and, sadly, Rule 19 is no longer applied.

My plan now is to practice hard and hope to be fit enough, as I reach vets age, and achieve the holy grail of a single figure handicap

Roll on Easter time!

Major goal was to get to 5.....started the season by going the wrong way and up to 9, but the lessons finally started to pay off and the short game kicked in to finally get me to my goal.

Only played for the scratch team once and won my game, but should be a regular fixture in the team next season.

Won 8 out of 8 league matches in the Chiltern Breakfast League.

Still to get my name on the board this year with just one left.

Qualified for the Fletcher Trophy which is for all the monthly medal winners.....its a medal round played early next year.

Played my first ever links round and loved it finishing birdie/birdie at Hillside

Selected for the Ping GM PYB day at Gainsborough.

Hopefully next week will help to raise a record amount for the Annual GM Forum HFH day.

All in all pretty happy....just need to shake off this knee injury, sort my dodgy back out and get my Stewart trolley working!!

Our season doesn't seem to end EVER! We have board comps right though the winter months with finals for those in March, our monthly medals don't stop, neither does the stablefords. Mens singles winter matchplay is the next board comp to get going and this year I want revenge for someone refusing to play me until I had had my op on my knee to make it easier for him to beat me, didn't help that I took a painkiller too many before playing and ended up giggling like a school girl for 7 holes and losing 5 and 4.
As for the "summer" season it's been ok to me really. Had a couple of cuts, gone up .1 a few times and learned alot about the game and myself.
Roll on our first round game against Lanhydrock in the Cornish Bowl comp on the 21st!

Didn't set myself any targets this year at all. Made a decision at the start of the year to only play in Opens this year and see where my handicap is at the end of the season. Played 26 qualifying rounds all at away courses, many of which I'd never played before and finished the season 0.2 higher than I started.

Last competitive round for me was Saturday, happy with how the season went, played 16 counting rounds 3 x 0.1's, 3 cuts and 10 buffers.
Wanted to get to single figures and play to it, started season at 10(9.5) finished at 8(8.2).
Thanks to a thread on here about amount of golf people played in 2011, which i showed to the wife i played twice as much golf than I would normally manage, would have been more if it wasn't for crap weather.
Hopefully manage one of the forum meets next year.

Not me... I've hardly played at all this year what with work getting in the way, the weather being dreadful and the course being closed.

Highlight was shooting 38 points a couple of weeks ago to win a society competition. Apart from that it's been junk.

And my handicap has lapsed because I've only played in one medal.
