Speed of play threads often appear on the forum but WHO are the biggest complainers?

In my opinion it is the 9-19 h/cappers, not good enough to put a decent score together but probably better than a lot of other players on the course.

I don't think I've ever met someone who plays off 5 or less that really complains about pace of play, likewise I haven't met many 20+ h/cappers who moan either as they are generally pleased to be part of the sport and are doing the best they can.

I do think it's pretty funny that if you are playing a round with a mid h/capper who starts birdie, birdie, par, par, par then they don't complain about slow play until they then make a triple bogey.. then it apparently becomes the fault of the group in front :D :D

I think one of the most important things with golf is that as you improve and get lower you improve the way you think on the course and one of the keys to good thinking is playing your own game.

I dont really care what happens around me and as long as you can get into your routine you play at your own pace anyway

On the basis that I've never seen you score better than 11 over James, do you count yourself in amongst them?
:D

4 over on Thursday (under my current h/cap yet again).
I don't know what it is that stops me playing/scoring well in your company, probably 'cos we spend too much time laughing :) :) :)

P.S the wedge is fantastic, got a 54° and 58° on order now.

I agree. I do look ahead to see if there is anything causing a possible delay, and if the group in front has nowhere to go then I pretty much accept that it's going to take as long as it takes.

No. It is because I am like Nick Faldo at the height of his success and can be very intimidating.

Either that or I am a knob

If your 'own pace' is fast, then how can you play your 'own pace' if you're behind Roy Cropper and his chums?

Also, unlike the OP, I've found the exact opposite, the very low (2 or lower) and those from around 12+ to be the ones least likely to complain about slow play. The low guys are doing (with some justification) all the pro stuff, and the higher guys see the pros and think they need to do that balls, or are completely oblivious to anything and anyone else on the course.

Signed, a slow play moaner off 6

p.s. The mates I play my social golf with are also slow play complainers, off 5, 5, 6, 8 & 9

So we DO agree that the very low and the higher h/cappers complain the least and the moaners are those in the middle somewhere? Just you say 2-12 and I say 9-19.

Notice in the original post I purposely left out the 6,7,8 h/cappers as they are by far the worst "Golf Diva Wannabee's" of the lot ;)

Is it too late to amend my figures to 6-16? :D :D

Actually I think it's the faint smell of wee that puts me off

Talking of slow play, I've just received my new custom Footjoy Icons in white with brown tortoise skin accents. I decided to wear them straight away. It took 2 hours to get out of the pro shop.

Are you in baiting mood?

I might not play this one and pass......

I go around in about 3.30. I don't give a stuff about slow play, apart from inconsiderate hackers who have lost ground to the groups in front.

Damn, you've drawn me in.

It isn't speed of play that is the problem

It is standing on the 18th tee for 15 minutes, waiting to duck hook it in the canal.

I would rather get it over with a bit quicker.

Spoken like a man whose "game is on fire" according to him.

You are going to get well and truly Pinged at Forest Pines

;)

me me me me me me me me and me

I have no problem with any level of play
I get fed up with groups of any level, walking slowly from green to tee, having a chat when they get there, then get their cards out of their card holders on their trolley, check with everyone else what they scored, and whether they all get 1 point or 2, and then fart about for another couple of minutes, before working out whose honour it is anyway ...AAARRRGGGHHHHHHH

The only people who should be marking score cards on tees are those with manual push trolleys (carry baggers can mark while walking, and so can electric trolley pushers.)

You haven't discovered the beer belly trolley perambulating technique then!! You push the trolley with your tummy whilst making the card.

I think that what exacerbates the problem is not the waiting as such but the waiting when you have soemone behind you that is pressing you.
I can deal with a steady game but once in that mindset I then don't want to be rushing my shots to get out of the way only to be stood on a tee for 65 mins

it really dont matter to me how long a round of golf takes im not there to rush round im there to enjoy my round and take in the scenery why rush something you like doing

Last year I was a singleton catching up a two ball infront. On the 3rd I caught them and had the chance on the par 3 to be played through as they weren't the quickest. Not let through.
I finished the par 3 and was waiting for them to clear the fairway on the 4th so I could drive off and to my suprise one of them stopped in the fairway, put his bag down, took a camera out and walked left to the water area to take a picture of the local wildlife.
Gobsmacked to say the least.
I whistled and suggested 'what on earth are you doing while I'm waiting on the tee' (you can imagine the hand signals....) and he just looked at me as if I was an annoyance to his day.
Safe to say he never let me through and I complained to the club pro who wasn't impressed.

So does photography on the course have preference over a single ball player?? ;)

Absolute stunner.
