Who complains about speed of play?

So, you have some golfers who are quick players and some who are slow sharing one golf course. I believe each type of player should be allowed to play at their own pace.
Who has the right to say someone is too slow or too fast.
No-one.

Solution.

If you are a quick player, get up early and if you are slower, play in the afternoons.
:D

Slow players dont bother me that much as i try not to rush my own shots, its the ignorant players who do my head in.

The players who mark their cards on the green whilst your waiting to play or leave their bags in front of the green.

Or when a green is next to a tee box and your set to putt and they decide to tee whilst your putting.

I still don't see it as a speed of play thing. Just keep up with the lot in front, play a provisional when required, sorted. It's a medal, it is never going to be quick, but hanging about waiting to play isn't 'playing golf' it is just pointless standing about. 15 minutes waiting on a tee
is not fun. I lose any sense of what I am doing, and all interest in the out come. This is where I admire the pro's, who seem to be able to refocus on the job in hand.

This was at 7.30 too. Trouble with your theory is the coffin dodgers can't sleep either.

Reading some of the posts in this thread makes me grateful of the club I am a member of. Slow play is almost unheard of and I have never been involved or caught behind a 3ball medal round that has taken any more than 3 hrs 45 mins.

There are certain guys with a slow reputation at the club, but if you play with them you just see that they are organised and ready to play. They are deliberate and methodical in their shot routines but the overall round time never gets excessive.

Things have found their natural order at our place, the sprinters always seem to nab the 1st few tee slots and are back in the bar before it is able to serve alcohol. The rest follow on and invariably keep decent pace.

I said in a previous slow play thread, 4+ hrs when you are shooting very good numbers in nice weather with good company doesn't seem long at the time. Less than 3 hrs playing like a doughnut in the rain with bad company is far too long for any man.

You should have played yesterday. One bloke in a lime green sweater playing with 3 women. Fourball behind them was right up their chuffer all the way round and we as a twoball were stuck behind them.
The ladies group lost at least two clear holes on the group ahead. Would they let the others through? Would they heck. And do you know what really annoyed me?
That bloody lime green sweater.
It was gruesome.
I thought it was Murph at first glance and then remembered we weren't anywhere near Hertfordshire

Slight tangent I know but as a newbie, and therefore slow for all the right reasons (lots of shots, taking time getting set-up, lost balls) I have a probably daft question:

How do you let someone through?
And When? (On the fairway, on the green or on the next tee)
And at what point? (As soon as you see them having to wait for you, when they start playing their next shot to your back, when they drive over your heads)
:D

This does present a problem for me.

If it is the game in front waiting to tee off I am only too happy to wait to putt as this will stop the noise etc and will leave me less time waiting to drive off - simple!

If it is the tee for another hole and I have just arrived on it with this players behind me landing their balls at my back, I arrive all ready to go and sh*t, I have to wait for four players to putt beside me on an adjacent green. WHY?

Why can't I just drive off, I have as much right to stay behind the game in front as those people on the green have OR do we drive, putt, drive , putt, drive, putt and keep both games happy?

Anyone can call a group through at anytime really...But for me ill either play out the hole if im a half hole ahead and then wait on the next tee box or if there really quick ill just let them play through the green before i putt...That way the pressure is off then and you can play your own pace once they've moved off

Nice. I'll take 3.00pm over 7.00am.....I'll go round in 4 1/2 hours even if my game speed is only 3 hours....
