White Headed Drivers - Novelty or Not- Discuss

A few years ago white drivers were (IMHO) like footy players playing in white boots a few years back.. Ie, if you were any good, then fair play. If you were crap though, you look like an absolute noob. White drivers are so common now, I don't think people even notice!

Who was the last footy player you saw wearing black boots?

To be honest I don't notice the head of my hybrid is white, its the black face that stands out. The white really just helps the face stand out more. The black face is where the real improvement is, well the black face against the white head. I think that combination for woods is here to stay!

Thought it was a gimmick but succumbed when I spotted an R11S driver in the 2nd hand section at the local American golf, well it was a bargain.

Hopefully titleist will continue to make black or dark grey drivers for the fore see able, as I really don't like the white or orange.

Purple and pink paisley? Now we are talking.

Seriously, who cares what colour it is. I have an RBZ and the fact it has a white head didn't even come into my thought. Does it play well, yes! in which case it can be any colour it likes.

On the subject of football boots, I was watching a game recently where only one player was wearing completely black boots. Sky pointed him out.

From a marketing perspective making their drivers white was probably the smartest product development move to happen to golf in decades.
Whenever you watch golf on TV now you know from a distance that the player is using Taylormade, the only option this season is RBZ or R11 either way their world presence in golf is immense - very smart and in reality a cheap thing to do Vs the huge profits it has made them.

Totally agree being an old cynic. They get noticed on TV exactly the same as white putters so it is a cheap promotion that every golfer sees instantly. A bit like Bubba with his Pink Ping driver.
