I wonder how long these will be around before, or if the novelty wears off..........

Not so long ago manufacturers were preaching the benefits of the square headed driver and look what's happend to those.......

Whilst TaylorMade have pursued with this and Cobra have contributed, others haven't followed. For example Ping have recently launched their first interchangeable driver, the Anser, but in black.

So what are your thoughts about the white heads, here to stay or will they disappear.......

Taylormade took a big risk starting the white driver theme and let's face it, it's paid off! I spoke to a pro the other day and 8 out of 10 drivers he sells are TM and white!
Who knows about future trends, you can get your Callaway in any colour sole you like now... I think the trend will continue.... Looking forward to seeing what TM release next, which should be in about a week or so. Won't be trying any as I have a shiney new 913.... Have I mentioned that ;) ;) ;)

As far as TaylorMade are concerned they can't go back to black or any other colour until they change their head honcho.
He came out and said that white was the BEST colour for drivers...
I think they'll stick around. The white head does work. Square didn't work because the shape wasn't aerodynamic enough so lacked distance. The principle was sound but they were simply not long enough.
The probable way ahead is, like Cobra and the multi-coloured Amp, drivers will be offered in a range of colours to suit.

From a marketing perspective making their drivers white was probably the smartest product development move to happen to golf in decades.
Whenever you watch golf on TV now you know from a distance that the player is using Taylormade, the only option this season is RBZ or R11 either way their world presence in golf is immense - very smart and in reality a cheap thing to do Vs the huge profits it has made them.

I have a R11 4 wood and I don't even think about the head colour. For me it's a very clever marketing strategy with minimal risk which has paid huge dividents for TM.

The one thing I don't like is the black face which marks very easily and can give the impression a 3 month old club is years old and this for some will be very off putting.

I love the look of a white head and have never had a problem. I've tried a few other models (Titleist etc) and to be honest going back to a darker head made no difference. I think white will stay around for a while yet but it is about performance and not looks. Heck if I could hit it I'd go with a pink Bubba version

I think we'll see more and more different colours hitting the shelves in a few years. Cobra have launched an all Orange AMP in homage to Fowler, Ping are selling Bubba Pink G20's and the white heas from TM is going from strength to strength.

I think the contrasting colours of head and face helps set up, I think thats a main reson Ping went with Matt black instead of the high contrast shine finish they usually do when they designed the Anser. The white ball shows up in great contrast to the matt black head, a kind of role reversal of the TM offerings.

Have you seen the new Cally head where you can design your own colours. Surely that's the ultimate. Dangerous for me and mega expensive if I follow my FJ Myjoy traits

I've seen this on the Callaway website and they promote it at my local range, I believe you can custom colour the soleplate, and possibly the grip and have a choice of shafts, but cannot change the colour of the crown.

Even so like you say the ultimate for a golf nut. I've not delved into the MyJoys experience yet, and hanging back as a few years back I did the Nike I.D thing with a pair of footy boots they were the most garish thing you've ever seen on a Sunday league pitch, a mix of pink, yellow, green and blue with my 2 kiddies names on them. Now resigned to the cupboard for nostalgia am sorely tempted to revise the colour scheme on some MyJoys though.
