Whiskey and Tea

I willingly would BIM....I finished a bottle of Highland Park last week, cleaned the decanter then filled it with the Lagavulin my brother got me for Christmas, just struggling with the smokey ness!

That's what I love about them, the peatiness & smokiness, the more ordinary ones hold less appeal. Ironically, as a confirmed Peathead, I'm booked for the Forum trip there in September/October and can't find enough time in the schedule to visit a distillery...

It’s just my end of the night nog at the mo, maybe I’ll grow into it?
Machrie links? Lucky sod!

The Machrie, Machrihanish, Machrihanish Dunes, possibly Dunaverty & thanks to one of my travel companions, Shiskine. Just hope the Scottish weather is kind & the midges are on holiday, should be perfect.:)

Nor are they!
You need to take it up with Apple and Microsoft with their spell checking and absurd use of a dictionary that is slang .. if it bothers you so much .. me, I don’t give a monkeys, I am more worried about the food in my fridges date stamps.

I have some laphroig like that, needs water to soften it off for me. I like my whiskey smooth!

Lagavulin is used in most blends because of its dominant notes, on its own it’s an (unnecessary) acquired taste

For me 'Tis the case with all Whisky, especially the Islay variety, enables their magic to be released. From a dash to a bit more..... only you will know.
Water is the magic that makes it work. Before lock-down, me & half a dozen Sikh guys would go out once a month for our Curry-Club night, eating from 7 to 10 o'clock with drink that we take along.... always Whisky as that is their favoured drink...... heavily watered as it happens....... & over the last 3 years I've learnt there's is no better accompaniment to a curry meal.
Last session one of them had just gained another grand-son so, as celebration, we were told he would bring the Whisky & so he did..... 2 litres for 6 of us. So 3hrs of steady food supply & 1/3 Lt of Whisky each was enjoyed with 4 to 5 x's the amount of water...... to be fair, 'tis the only way I would have been able to walk away from having had 7 double Whiskies, enjoyed the food & company & then gone to my Snooker Club for a point to finish....... a magic night.

How can anyone want to ruin a fine single malt by pouring it into
What about ruining a nice cup of strong Yorkshire tea with some whiskey!!

Never liked the stuff, the smell puts me off more than anything. Worse place I lived was right opposite a distillery by Elgin, North Scotland when posted up at Lossiemouth and Kinloss at the turn of the century.
My grandad used to love the stuff so family were always wanting me to buy various brands on my journey back down home via the Spey Valley and A9 - the staff at the distilleries were quite put out when I refused to taste the whisky before I bought it

one christmas back when i worked in the city, i was given about 20 bottles of assorted Whisky by clients. i can't stand the stuff so it all got consumed in tea... back in the day when drinking and smoking where still acceptable at work.

Can’t beat a good malt whisky, I’ve got cupboards full much to my wife’s disgust ??
Hard to look past the speysides in my opinion.
Dalmore is a particular favourite from the Highlands.
You‘ll always get a good nip if you’re golfing with me ?

Don't shoot me but I don't like whisky.
My dad was a true Scot, and my FiL a whisky officianado and neither could understand my taste.
They reckoned the cure was to stay up all night and share a bottle of single malt. Sadly I never did it.
I do like a steaming cup of Earl Grey tea.

Lagavulin is used in most blends because of its dominant notes, on its own it’s an acquired taste .. try a Dalwhinnie or Oban on ice a little gentler. I am on the Glenfiddich solara reserve which is very smooth.

I have never had whiskey in tea, I have had ouzo. It was an experiment to see if it went cloudy ... I cannot remember the result only that my mates little brother had a rough night after trying to keep up with our consumption. Poor fella was dry wretching long after he’d finished being sick. He was okay mid day next day bit green looking but sorted.

Excuse me, it's the bloody nectar of the gods, best whisky out there. Drink it straight, just a couple of drops of water, no ice, like a man. ;)

Good memories with Talisker from last year.
Was at my cousins wedding in Oxfordshire last year and it was at a private barn place.
6 of us in Kilts went up to the bar and my dad ordered double whiskies for us, this was about half past 12 in the afternoon.
The guy that runs the place asks if we drink whisky all the time, we said that’s the drink of choice.
He goes I’ve only got 2 bottles, my Dad said you better get to Tesco then.
He asked us what malts we wanted and went and got them, we chose talisker as thats what we started with, good laugh and a great day.
Dont think they could believe how much we put away. ??
