Mike I'm also thinks about getting the mag, but can you sent me the next 3 issues instead of the last 3?

;)

Personally i like to read golf digest, now it does have a lot of ads in it compared to others, but the variety of articles and the topics are good. The only draw back is that its hard to find unless you subscribe from america.

I read the main 4 uk mags and as someone else stated, some moths a mag can but rubbish the next its great. It all depends on whats happening in the golfing world. Like now there all about the open, its all about the variety each mag can do this time of year that makes it a good or rubbish issue.

I haven't got round to this months GM but usually i find that they are the best all round mag. Todays golf tends to be more instructional, golf world more golf articles and bunkered more about local and home grown talent/events.

Hi Martyn. If you email me michael_harris@ipcmedia.com your home address I'll send the last three issues to you and you can have a look at what we have to offer. I think it offers the best mix out there... then again I would say that!

Wow a very generous offer, I've just bought and currently reading the June-July issue but any back issues going spare would be very much appreciated.
Thanks again.

I only read GM, my daughter pays on subscription for my Christmas presssy. I can understand why lots of you buy more than one mag each month as I did likewise with motorcycle mags years ago. At least four a month and all read in the blink of an eye.

Do what everyone else does.......read them for free in WH Smith

Ain't bought one for years and years, after starting the game again after a long lay off I'm looking at buying a mag or two to peruse. Are there any which are more suited for high handicappers, ones which offer lots of tips and game improvement sections? Cheers Martyn

Personal opinion

1st Golf Monthly
2nd Todays's Golfer
3rd Golf World

i read most issues of all three and occasionally pick up Golf International or the American ones, Golf Magazine or Golf Digest.

After reading " Plane Truth for Golf" by Jim Hardy, I always laugh and shake my head in amazement at the instruction section, and now thankfully realise that these did me MORE harm than good.
Firstly the instructor NEVER mentions if he is covering the One plane swing or Two plane swing technique and as such because they differ, it's no wonder it causes so much confusion.
Jim Hardy even states in his book that so called coaches don't know the difference.
I don't buy Golf Monthly, Today's Golfer or any other mag purely because the lack of clarity within the instruction sections. I do like to read and look at new gear though, so ill just stand and read it in the aisle at Asda. Because the clarity within the instructions section is SO poor I refuse to buy.
Unfortunately it's only with hindsight and by lots of wasted years that I've come to realise that to understand fully the golf swing there is only one great manual, and that is Jim Hardys book. It really is the bible of golf.
The only slight downside is that the book may be too complicated for a novice.
If its instructional help you want, then forget the magazines, you'll learn more from the adverts. For the price of 3 editions you can get The Plane Truth by Jim Hardy and this will provide you with far more valued and CORRECT instructions.
Then if you see a pro check what he knows about the golf swing and the two fundamental differences to the swing, ie 1 plane or 2 plane swing. Then see a pro who teaches the correct method for you.
I cannot recommend the book enough, it really is to golf what the knowledge is to a London cabbie.
Jim Hardy he's the man ;)
