Hi All, I have become addicted to this game and now need to join a club. I live near Windsor and am thinking about Royal Ascot, Winterhill, Lambourne, Burnham Beeches, Fox Hills etc...

Any views on which course would be nicest to join for both the golf and also the social side - would like to meet some nice people that enjoy their golf but not retentively!

Thanks

Kevin

Royal Ascot has an open day next weekend for prospective members. Give the club a call on 01344 625175 for details. I believe your subs would be calculated on a pro-rata basis (sub year runs from April - April) and the £600 joining fee can be deferred until next April.

Alternatively I'm happy to meet up for a game and would consider acting as a proposer for you. Royal Ascot is set in Crown woodland and despite being only 5 years old has the look and plays like a more mature course. They have an active competitive calender and the atmosphere in the clubhouse is very relaxed and not cliqey at all and have a thriving social side.

If you are interested you can mail me at golfmonthlyforum@yahoo.co.uk and we can get a game.

If you want an independant view I suggest you ask any of the guys on the GM Spring meeting what they thought.

Thaanks Homer for your comments... Definatly going to go along to the club this weekend - it is my number 1 choice at the moment.

Thanks again and would love to hook up for a game soon...

Kevin,

No probs. I'm playing the medal in the morning but should be done about 2.00 if you want the guided tour or to ask any questions. The pro will know where I am if you want to look me up. Not sure how your fixed, but I've a day off on Monday the 8th and PM on the 16th if you can get away for a game and I'd be happy to propose you if you decide to join
