Which country/countries would you not holiday and/or visit?

But Dubai know that , their oil reserves are not that large and what they have created and are still doing so , is something to replace it , geographically they are in a good place to cover east and west , it is very successful , visitors numbers prove that , but as with anywhere it does not suit all , i would say Dubai is like Vegas without all the smut filth and immorality ,i hated Vegas , but its a good base to get out and about from, its not for everyone , but then neither is being on a beach in the sun

Dubai has plenty of immorality and filth - that’s what makes it all hypocritical, they don’t practise what they preach that’s for sure. Just go to the York International in Bur Dubai - everyone knows what happens there and it’s common in a lot of the hotel clubs. It has high visitor numbers because it’s full of rich people wanting people to pander to their every need and other people wanting to pretend to be rich.

It will all come crashing down on itself

Will that be before or after it reaches it's target population of 8million...only 2million at the moment.

The Khalifa, the Fountain displays, the Al-Arab hotel, the shopping malls are amazing, it's an hour from Abu Dhabi where you've got Ferrari World and the F1 track, and then there's the desert tours by camel, the miracle garden. The whole place just feels special, it's so clean, so well presented, so well organised, I loved it. If you'd rather just go to Spain though, that's up to you, but personally I loved the whole experience of visiting Dubai and enjoy seeing new places and experiencing new things.

Sounding slightly better......:)

I dont do Spanish beach holidays, to be honest. I have loved Madrid, Seville, Cordoba,Granada etc with a few days R+R on the beach for a relax at the end of it.

Wouldn't go to US, chunk of Asia and anywhere with dodgy human rights (I know the US fall under this one too so its a double no)

Who doesn’t love a kebab after a night out. Lovely jubbly.

Back when I first started work, some 30yrs ago, Friday night late shift, on the way home I'd grab myself a pita bread stuffed with kebab and chips, loved them.

In the office there was a bloke, who on a Monday would come to work in clean clothes, shaved and looking smart, by Friday, he was in the same clothes, unshaven and stunk, his jeans would stretch and everytime he bent over, if you were unlucky you would cop a view of his ass crack.

Now you may be reading this and be thinking what have the two got to do with each other, well.....

....by the Friday, as above he would stink and it wasn't till one late shift and a kebab, that it clicked, stinky Steve smelt the same on a Friday the same as a Kebab.

Since then, everytime I get a whiff of Kebab I get flash backs of Friday late shifts, urggghghhhh sticky sweaty ass crack = kebab

During my time as a sailor I first visited Dubai in 1990. Went again 6 years later and I couldn't believe how much it had changed. In 1990 it was original with no major tourism except the old markets and souks, but 6 years later it had been Americanized and ruined. The emirates course used to be in the absolute middle of nowhere, now it is surrounded by high rise buildings and hotels. I definitely wouldn't pay to go there nowadays.

Went to some very iffy places amongst the good but the worst place I ever visited was Karachi in Pakistan. When you see dead cows floating past the ship in harbour you know that it is going to be a bad visit.

Ex matelot?

Could not have been good if you only did a dogs watch 😉
Being a Pongo I looked at it as doing missionary work ;)

Great times, it was spent with NAIC and ended up doing more time at sea than some of the WAFU’s in the unit, spent 6 days on the Ark Royal sailing back from a 6 month deployment in the Adriatic, joined her in Palma, great 6 days on the p!ss.

I’ve been all over the world and the only place I’d go back to or even happily retire to would be Canada.

Wouldn’t want to go any where else now, and some countries don’t want me 😜😂😂

Agreed Robin, Canada is a great place. Really enjoyed the time I spent there back in 1985.

Mmm, we've been trying to decide on where to go for the retirement present. Warm summers??

Warm not hot, Toronto & Montreal have the highest averages around 20-22, Vancouver where I love only averages 18-20 in July/August.

Compared to there winter temps that bloody scorching for them 😜😎

I just love the place, clean, friendly, love the Brits, and so much to see and do.
