You've hit a nice drive down the middle of the 12th fairway in a bounce match with some good mates.
You're all square and you are first to play and no-one's getting a shot.
The flag is 70 yards away in the middle of a large, soft, flat green which is guarded by small bunkers short left and right. It's warm, no wind and you have a good lie.
What club would you use and how would you play the shot?

There's no right or wrong answer, just curious how others play this shot.

about 70 yards and i would get my 52 degree wedge out, i would half swing hoping to hit the middle of the green and make it stick (It never normally sticks and bounces off the green, lol)

Not far off a full sand wedge for me. That goes 75-80 yards so would hit it full to take the front bunkers out of play.

SW gripped down a bit, 3/4 length swing, hit the back of the ball hard bit lower trajectory ,spinny, fly it up to just b4 the hole should grab on the 2nd bounce

simples ;)

It would have to be my 52 degree, did the same yesterday and
it turned out great, water all around the green, the flag was
12 feet from the "wet stuff" I hit the ball perfect and it landed 8 feet beyond the pin..my shot of the day.

Having berated myself for bad course management and leaving myself a yardage Im awful from I would hit a 3/4 shot with my 58 degree Vokey with little confidence and a swing thought of keep it smooth

depends how big the gap between the bunkers is, if it's fairly wide open, probably a pitch and run with my 7 or 8 iron.

If I was worried about it going in the bunkers if i pull or push slightly, then I'd probably hit a sand wedge slightly choked down.

70 yards?

I reckon I'd take a SW (56), choke down a fair bit, stand narrower and a little open and pray I don't thin it.

I got the gripping down and standing more narrow idea from a pro off the GM forum....if I'm not remembering wrong :D

Now, if it was 65 yards, I'd play a 1/2 GW.... :D

Full sand wedge for me, then lob wedge to get me out behind the mound as I've thinned it!

On a separate note bob, are there any putting drills you recommend with the v easy - havnt had time to use recently. My putting was a joke on sunday on for a gross birdie si2 and 4 putted! Want to get it right for weekend!
Cheers
