Where is your TV located?

In our current place, our living room is square in shape and is rear aspect. So the choice of the TV location was very simple. So the flat telly went on one of the walls - no dramas.

We are househunting, and during our viewings it is interesting to see how impractical TV placement can be in the lounge. We (may have) found a place. The lounge is a long & narrow rectangular box which is front and back aspect and has a fireplace on wall. So there does not seem to be a practical place to put the telly - unless you board up the fireplace or block out the front window. The back aspect is a patio door so cant put it there. You could put it alongside (as the current vendors have done) but then not everyone can watch it... (see pic)

Looking at the pic, I'd move it towards the patio doors and angle it.

Ours is in the corner of the lounge, next to the window. And in the dining room on top of a low sideboard. And in bedroom 1 on top of a chest of drawers. We're looking to turn bed 2 into a sitting room, and get a TV for in there.

modernise the fire place with a smart gas or leccy one, that will scale back the 80's monstrosity. (or remove all together) then get a decent TV mounted on the wall above.

Done.

Slightly scarey picture as the fireplace/dresser/telly/patio doors are nearly identical to ours. Works quite well. Our lounge is quite large 'L' shaped.

Are you selling yours??? We might end up putting an extension on the back and make it into an L-shaped room. There is a set of doors between the sofa and couch on the right that leads to the dinning room.. We could knock it thru that way too..

I dont know the condition of the fireplace, but it may get replaced if it is not working. Being a city boy, never had a fireplace. So we will give it a year. It is very useful for a resale.

Also cant just stick it on top of the fireplace as the shape of the room means half the room wont be able to watch telly..

We have two three seater settees at right angles to each other which kind of created a wee snug.
Desk/office one side and dining table the other.

Not sure you have room for that.

Yep. Get rid of that crap fireplace!!
In our living room we used to have a door smack bang in the middle of the only wall that could logically take a widescreen telly.
I had it bricked up and plastered over, having a new one put in the corner of the room.
