Where is my gap?

Hi all,

I have 13 clubs in the bag and really have no idea what to use the last spot for. Here are my lofts:

Putter
Wedge - 56*
Wedge - 50*
PW - 46*
9i - 42*
8i - 38*
7i - 34*
6i - 30*
5i - 27*
Hybrid – 22*
Hybrid – 19*
3 Wood – 15*
Driver – 11*
I guess you guys will ask about the 4 iron. I don’t own it but its 24*.

What would you fill the spot with? I don’t want another wedge thanks.

Not sure if you know all your yardages acurately for each club, but I think that would be the place to start.

How far do you hit each of your clubs currently

It looks like a blatant wedge is needed !!!! Get a 58 in there or a 60 lol

Get a proper heavy putter in there (unless your 1st putter is already heavy) Handy for those odd mega long putts sometimes needed, or shots from just off the green, saves scuffing up your good one.

If you don't want another wedge the only change I can see is dropping the 19 hybrid for a 19 5 wood. I doubt there's much real difference.between the 2 hybrids but maybe a bit too much of a gap between the 3wood and the 19 hybrid.

If you get by with 13, then dont worry too much.
You could drop the 56 and go 54, 58. the only other would be 4 iron mate.

I think if you got another club you would be getting it for the sake of it rather than needing it.

play a few rounds with a half set,one week odds & the next the evens...amazing how you can learn to fill "gaps" by going up & down the grip to accomodate the shot needed/changing stance for a punch/whatevers needed at the time.How many rounds do you play when you use all 13 clubs? not many I wouldnt think..? a 30 plus pointer in stblfd with 6 clubs & no sore back is quite acheivable!

Sorry I have not got back to this post before now, it’s been a manic week. The very best thing I can do it find out my distances, the lofts are irrelevant I guess as the hybrids are different to the irons.

@feary you are right but I am addicted to golf tech, but you are still right.


I guess I am a little surprised no one said Mizuno fli Hi 4 iron though.

im not sure why people feel the need of 14 clubs.

Do you feel you have gaps in your bag? Assess your lengths and work out if you feel you need an additional club.

Me personally i know i need to really look at my clubs from 175 to 220 yards.
