I believe it's called sod's law?

After bragging about hitting the ball 200yards straight with my 5iron, I haven't been able to hold on to this swing and have lost it...

I seemed to have lost my swing :D

I managed to shank, slice and top all in one evening at the driving range..

Don't worry, I've lost it, found it, lost it and then found it again ...... that's golf for you.

I would go and see a Pro A.S.A.P. and not leave it too long like I did and waste four months going around in circles.

Golden rules of golf:

NEVER think you've cracked it

NEVER step after a putt before it's come to rest at the bottom of the cup

NEVER boast about how well you're playing prior to a game with strangers

NEVER carry a telescopic ball scoop in your bag!! :D

I've just got back from the driving range - I managed to drag 3/4's of it back, a few shanks - but the rest ok.

It would seem that I was bending my back and not bending from the waist on setup. Also my front foot was lifting and throwing me off balance...........I think :D

It's only taken two weeks to get my act together!

I have two games sunday to complete my handicap for the society, hopefully I'll get my act together by then.

I think I will leave the driver in the bag and use my extra shots to my advantage.

On another note: There was an older guy on the range and he was managing to hit every ball backwards! Incredible to watch - although i'd prefer not to learn that swing :(

He mentioned to his mate that he was getting tired towards the end of an 18 hole he played this week - although I probably would too if I ended up further away from the pin then when I had started everytime I swung the club...

The default shot in golf is a bad one. Good shots are merely loaned out on occasion by the golfing gods to lure you into thinking you're actually making progress :D

If you think you've got it sussed you're playing the wrong game. It will be great for a few days, passable for a few more, mediocre more often than not and downright diabolical when you need really need it to be good

Can I add one to that Robobum?

NEVER say, "I birdied this one last time I played it"!
 :D :D

As long as I play well on sunday, Ill be happy...

But do I play it safe and use the few extra shot's from my handicap or try to do the par 4 in 4?

For a higher handicapper, I have no doubt that better course management would knock more strokes off the final score than any amount of short-term practice.

I read a story in a Rotella book about Tommy Armour. He got involved in a bet where a student (or friend, can't remember) of his who had never broken 90 bet some guys that this would be the day that he broke 90. Armour's condition to the bet was that he could walk round with the player offering advice.

Fot his second shot on the first, the player pulled out enough club to reach the green, which had bunkers front left and front right.
Armour told him to put it away and take an 8 iron instead, and put the ball in front of the green between and short of the 2 bunkers.
The player did this, chipped on and made the putt for par.

They continued like that all the way round, the player playing the shots that Armour asked him to.

Not only did he break 90, he broke 80 as well!

I definately need a coach like that..

I see the others drive 240 yards and know I could hit that far rather than playing it safe.

Maybe a bit of good course management wouldn't go-a-miss this weekend. I will try to keep the driver in the bag too (or use it at 80%).

I need to stop duffing the shots!!

I think you only need to keep the driver in the bag if it'll get you in real trouble. Anyone can hit bad shots with any club.

The important thing imo is to not try to get it all back in one shot if you do hit a bad one.

Good point. My problem used to be hitting mad shots if my driver put me in problems or duffing a firrway wood following a duffed drive when I tried to leather it to make up for the lost distance off the tee.
