GMac has ball in hand on the first and places it for a put. Commentator says hes 6inch of the green!!!

Hows he picked up and marked and if he holed it it wouldnt be a put!!!!

What have i missed?

Probably something simple

I'm guessing that you're asking
"If he putts from off the green, does it count as a putt or not?"
I would say if he's on the putting green, then yes.
If he's off, then no.
Just my opinion but I believe that how the tours work out the stats

Agree with the putt count from Bob ... but have no idea why he would have picked up when off the green. Surely they didn't have pick and place in the summer of South Africa ... We only have that here in winter :)

They were playing lift clean and place after the rain,as for when is a putt not a putt, the area designated as the green is marked by the nature of the cut and the fringe is NOT a part of the green therefore only putts made on the green count irrespective of club used unless chipping ( YES you can chip on the green surface) hope this helps PS i would not advise you to chip when on the green in the monthly medal and if you do don't blame me.

They were playing lift clean and place after the rain,.

Ahhhh that would explain it. It was bright sunshine when I was watching didnt know it had rained.

Still doesnt explain why the commentator said it should have been classes as a putt though??

If you are off the green its a chip
The Fringe is off the green
if you are on the green, its a putt
if you are on the green and you use your driver instead of a putter, its still a putt

Lets try and keep it simple, look how complicated PokerJokes 3 putt thread got
