I've recently turned 55 so am now eligible to enter some Snr competitions, most of these at our club are on Mondays. In the entry conditions on ClubV1 it states:

Enter your score using your phone or the PSI terminal.
After entering your score please put your scorecard in the Seniors box before 17.00hrs.

This basically precludes me from entering as I am still "working", I'd be able to play late afternoon and submit my scores before the end of the day.

Just wondering if this is the "norm" at other clubs?

Our Saturday and Sunday (individual) comps allow you to play and post your scores outside the allocated comp. tee time slots as long as the score is posted before the end of the day

Same at mine. The main senior comp is on a Monday morning, they might have something on a Wednesday as well. All done and dusted before I could ever tee off.

We just need to wait until retirement comes 😄

All our Seniors comps are played within a specific block of tee times on Tuesday mornings....I don't think there is any scope to enter the comp outside of these times.

I've not played in any of our comps, only just qualified ;). Is the idea that players stay after their round and hear the results or is it like a weekend comp where you play, have a drink, leave, see the results the following day?

All our Seniors comps are done on an enter on the day basis, so you can play whenever your want.

Qualification age is 55, however I would estimate the average age of entrants is north of 75.

Our "senior section" (essentially a society within the club with a £15 per year subscription) run comps every Monday morning (except some BHs) with reserved 8:30-10:30 tee times, and they are closed soon after the last group come in.

We also have a Senior Monthly Medal on one Wednesday every month that is open to all club members over-55s. Until this year, it has been run by the senior section as above. However, we are looking at changing that to allow members to enter at any time of day.

Same at our place
Tuesdays and Thursdays
Senior section has specific booked out slots, they all play within this allotted time zone.

Just checked, it's 7am until 10am, Tuesdays and thursdays

We have two types of seniors comps - optional and fixed time only (up until 11.45)

With the fixed times ones one of the seniors committee collects the cards from the box, checks them and scores with results being published fairly quickly afterwards.

With optional it is done the next day.

The club requires seniors committee to do the admin for their comps.

Re the comment about Saturday club comps they also are only open for a set time. This is done simply because you can only book in to the comp in advance of the day.
Our Sunday comps are optional.

You have to be 60 at our club which I will be in a few weeks. The comps are on Tuesday mornings but I’m still working unfortunately.

My club only has 6ish senior medals. They are played off the yellow tees on Tuesday once a month in spring and summer. You need to be 55 to enter.

Our senior open, you have to be 60 to enter. Other clubs I have seen their opens are 55 or even 50 to enter.

I've played in senior opens in Scotland that have a 50 limit, I don't think any in England go that low. I was surprised to be honest, but happy 😄.

My last club was 60, mean bunch, but the majority have 55 as the cut off point.

Still set at 65 for one of the clubs I'm in (lowest club is 60 so I still can't tee it forward)

I realise that this isn't the question (sorry) but is the age for 'senior' golf set at county level or does each club decide? In a poll of a handful of clubs in Lincolnshire, the senior section is open to anyone 55 and open; but my club in South Yorkshire has a senior section that starts at 50. I've also seen senior opens in Yorkshire with a 50 cut-off - hence my theory that it's a county thing. It could just be coincidence though.

Most of the senior opens up here are 55 though there are a couple for 50. clubs seniors at Nairn used to have 2 comps a week with tee times booked at lunchtime both days, though i think you could book your own time. im 60 this week and have never played any seniors clubs comps, in the last 5 years. The roll up i played in at Nairn was mostly seniors, but all single figures and Cat1, none played in the club seniors. i have played a lot of opens though, only the ones with a scratch prize

There's not many with 50 limits in England but I have seen the odd one.
Interestingly, England Golf's Senior Series has a 50 limit.

When I retired (at 55) and moved to the Fylde coast, there were two senior inter club leagues running, one with a minimum age of 55 and one at 60. So for the first year I couldn't play in one league team. They then revised the age limit to bring it in line with the other, and most local clubs, where 55 is the minimum senior age.

As far as club competitions go, we too have a seniors' section (a club within the main club) which is 55 minimum and competitions (effectively roll ups) are run weekly but handled manually by a small committee with a mid afternoon cut off for scorecard submission. Almost all play in the morning so it creates no issues.

The club runs a couple seniors competitions and I believe the cut off there, using IG, is that evening.

At ours it’s 55 but we upload photo of card on IG.
The card then goes in the bin!

Seems odd you need to post card in a box by 5pm.
It’s like they don’t think seniors work.!😳

Technically we only have 1 Senior's comp....the Senior's Championship that is open to members aged 55 or more.
We have a section, called The Elders " who run their own comps as a kind of society within the club.
They play Monday, Wednesday, Friday and have comps on various days..
You have to be 57 to get into The Elders......not sure why it's 57 and not 55 but there you go....
