What's your winter practice plan ??

Practice......whats that ?
I play golf for fun and enjoyment, practice is something that people who play the game for a living do

If I could play off five with no need to practice I'd be a happy man. I practice because I lack your natural skills and skulling a ball through a green, hitting out of bounds, duffing a chip, fatting an approach and topping a tee shot are anything but fun ;)

"As winter draws near"
I'll think about it when the time comes. We are only at the beginning of Autumn for goodness sake. Hopefully there are still many weeks of playing time to come before the snow.

finding out on friday when i have an 18 hole playing lesson with my pro, thinking about lengthening the swing as i get lots of comments about a 3/4 swing, though i'm pretty happy distance wise most of the time.

bit of extra distance off the tee enabling me to have more cracks at par 5's in 2.

"lots of comments about 3/4 swing", usually from john daly over swing types that i've just marmalised in match play

I have recently forced myself onto the practice range, (very difficult to resist a tempting empty 1st tee), hitting around 30 to 40 balls and found that my ball striking is probably the best it has ever been so I intend to keep this short routine up through the winter. Also, my local course is very quiet from October so I shall lose myself around one of the greens and practice my bunker play.

Planning on once a week at range for long game, getting consistent with driver and try to get to grips with my 3 wood. Also keep iron play upto date. Still trying to play at least once a week and practice short game when daylight allows. Plenty of practice at home on putting and chipping with the v easy!

Well this year the current Mrs148 and I are wintering in our holiday home at the Royal Westmoreland golf club in Barbados.

I'll let you all know then :D :D :D

I play golf for enjoyment so when it gets cold and wet i hit the gym harder and go to the range were they have heated bays,i also drive the misses mad by putting on my practice mat in the lounge as she watches the usuale girly dross that the have on,if i could get the shag pile to run at 12 on the stint meter i would be a world beater lol

Being able to golf 2-3 times a week, I usually have a tough choice play or practice. I'll be working on a higher wood ball flight and possibly getting a bit angry at the stupid winter greens

I seem to have got into the nasty habit of coming over the top in my swing and cutting across everything so I'm going to try and work that out on the course. Dont really know how to go about it though so any advice would be welcome.

Would also like to try and lose some weight so might try and hit the gym a few times a week.

Plan for me is to continue the focus on rotating my hips in the long game, at the moment its quite good so dont want to tinker too much, more a maintenance thing, more time to be spent on short game and also wedge yardages, especially from 50-120.

Also am back training, put on a load of weight this summer and just taken a weight loss bet to lose 3 stone by end of january, so back using the kettlebells again and will be all winter. Also need to ensure I keep full range of movement in my bad knee which also requires a fair amount of exercises.

to groove in the lessons that are proven to work if I believe them and trust it, only way to groove it in is hit 4 or 5000 balls over winter, once a week should do it plus the occasional links game weather permitting

I'll let you into a little secret, he's no longer off five.

My plans for the winter are to play and win the winter league, and hopefully get in the prize money for the winter fiddle

I usually switch from Carling Extra Cold to Guinness for the winter. Other than that it just golf as usual. No mats, and no winter greens.

Not really going to work on a lot. I need to look at turning more on top of the ball again but my lesson in October should cover that. Otherwise maybe a pitching lesson and then a couple of MOT lessons in Febraury/March ready for the 2012 season

As winter grows near and the season comes to a close, what's your plan of action to make next season THE season

I have 3 goals for the winter up at the range :

- Get to know my new 3 wood - Thanks again Lump! (Aiming to use more for short Par4 lay-ups and into some Par5's)
- Dial in my distances with my new wedge split ( recently moved from 50 & 56 to a 52 & 58)
- A couple of short game lessons to improve accuracy and consistsency of shots from the fringe (want to develop a consistent set-up & stroke for these shots)

What you planning - tweaks or full reconstruction surgery ????

Full reconstruction started last Friday, starting with getting a decent swing with my driver.

After that it'll be loads of lessons, practice on the range if it's raining and on the par 3 & putting green if it isn't raining (I don't mind cold or wind, just hate playing in the rain).

Someone said they play for fun so they don't practice - well it's no fun if you are c**p and want to be better.
